was icing on the cake, this play here was when the tide turned for him, and possibly his Heisman moment

What a year for the "Slim Reaper." To legitimately be the best play in a banner year of elite QBs that have garnered incredible publicity for 3 years now is really amazing. DeVonta is such an unassuming guy with a catch radius that is unique among his peers, along with a ridiculous skill set that makes fools of the so-called best DBs in the SEC. Seldom do the really classy, good guys win much when it comes to awards but the voters can finish off the accolades for the POY by giving him what's already his, the Heisman.

Should have seen it coming, the greatest clutch play in the history of Alabama football was pulled off by a freshman "Slim Reaper" on a 2nd and 26 for it all. Now he can bookend that with another title. Amazing DeVonta.

Did you miss 2019?

ETA: Smith is very deserving of this award as is Sark. I think Lawrence is going to win the Heisman as the Bama fan voters are going to split between the big 3.

About par for the Heisman voters. Lawrence finishes 3rd behind Trask and Mac Jones in the AP All-America voting. Somebody has been watching football this season.

If I had a Heisman vote, it would go to him. Great receiver!

May he bet the Heisman and not go on to get saddled with a shite QB on a shite team.

There's probably a lot of overlap between these folks.

In the years where the AP/Heisman was split, I'm guessing it was a very close split on both.

This is not a close split on the AP, so I don't imagine the Heisman will look much different.

I think there is a self awareness on the "always a QB and sometimes a RB" thing and the voters were almost looking for an opportunity to change directions. This will work in Devonta's favor.

Not that he needs charity--he deserves the award.
