You have made one hell of an offensive investment. You are doing the Ole Miss dance with your spread principles. You couldn't sustain balance with your running game and pass protection with your 11 and 10 personnel. You have modern spread issues with TOP and leaving your defense on the field way too long.

Pelini may have swallowed his spleen last season but your offense never let your defense catch their breath. Food for thought going into 2021. Fix that and we will talk.

That is fairly accurate. Might be semantics, but we aren't intentionally using the "Ole Miss dance". We tried to run the ball a good bit last year but, with the exception of South Carolina, just couldn't get a sustained running game.

Leaving the defense on the field too long by lack of a running game as well scoring too quickly was a problem we even had for the first half of 2019 and was worse for all of last year. Hell, to a lesser extent, you guys struggled with that early in the year as well.

That said, even with a shitty below average defense we easily go 7-3 last year, and maybe 8-2. You just cant overcome a defense that bad, especially when it was expected to be a team strength. 2021 should be a ton better, but I'm not gonna lie and tell you I won't be holding my breath the first 3-4 series against UCLA.

2020 LSU was second in the conference in terms of time of possession only behind A&M.

Do you honestly think that you have the next Aranda?

Anything from the 2020 football season should be considered an outlier. Nothing about last year was close to normal. I think LSU was transitioning its entire defense from a 3-4 to a 4-3 and Pelini was not good at teaching and communicating his scheme. Put on top of that the significantly reduced contact and issues of around COVID-19, nothing from last year should be a reflection on any current team.

Everything coming out of BR right now is that is not a problem with the new coach and we have the DLinemen this year to make what O wants on defense work. Stingly and Ricks are going to be tough to throw against this year.

Yeah, but that didnt fit my narrative

I do believe the TOP stat is skewed in our case. By mid season we had no choice but to run on 1st and 2nd (even with little success) before passing, as our opponent just went 87 yds on 3 pass plays in 30 seconds. This is only opinion, but it seemed our defense was so bad, it had us sacrificing parts of the offensive game plan just to stay above water.
