One of the conerstones of Kiffin's 09 class is on his way out of Knoxville. No real suprise here. He fell to 3rd on the depth chart this year and never came close to living up the the 4 star tag that he carried.

Dooley granted him a release. Best of luck to him in his future endeavors.

Did he ever do anything more than kick returns and like two carries a game?

I remember Auburn fans wanted him as the gem of our class that year. Goes to show you that stars don't always mean everything.

I find it funny that the Tennessee/South Carolina recruiting debate over Giles/Oku has ended with both players transferring.

Yea, if I remember correctly the Oku recruitment was pretty highly contested between UT and Auburn. I don't think he signed until a few weeks after signing day.

He got a few carries with Kiffin, but other than being a mediocre kick returner, he did very little here.

True, stars aren't everything.

I'm at the point where I am ready for Tennessee to forever stop recruiting small, shifty "scatbacks". Unless they have Chris Johnson speed, I want a back that can deliever pain and wear out a defense.

He's kicking himself for not coming to Auburn, our coaches would have made a player out of him

Possibly. The changes in Strength and Conditioning Coaches between Kiffin and Dooley killed him. He had one of the best seasons returning kicks in Tennessee history as a frosh, and played some at RB and in the slot. Kiffin wanted to expand that role, but wanted him to get even faster. Then the new S&C coach convinced him he needed to become an every down back. He added about 20 pounds of muscle, and was stuck right in between. Too small to be an every down back, too slow to be a great all purpose guy.

Unfortunately things didn't work out for him at Tennessee. I'm sure he will be a good back somewhere.

The #1 APB in the nation, along with the #1 RB in the nation, Bruce Brown, signed with UT.

Both were disappointments and are now gone.

I agree with the scatback comments above.

I'm ready for another combo of Cobb-Webb or Lewis-Henry. Hell, I'd take another Stewart-Hayden duo right now.
