You don’t make White the 2nd highest paid AD in the country and pay his very large buyout at UCF just to hire someone like Heupel imo

OT but do you think that if UT had made that late 2 point attempt against South Carolina in '92 and won instead of losing, Majors would have kept his job?  (and Phil called the ill fated play :)  I believe it was the off week after this game when he got whacked.

It is something that I often think about.

The what if that could have literally changed the trajectory of the program in the nineties.

Why would Heupel want to go to a downtrodden team that is bleeding through the transfer portal and is looking down the barrel of at least a 2-year probation?

You know, the Arkansas game started the derailment of the season.

Ugh, too much too think about.

Forgot about that one, at home too. That whole season was just weird, 9-3 and the HC gets forced out in the middle of the season. Kinda reminds me of our 2000 season, we were shut out at home by Southern MS and Dubose offered to resign but Mal refused. I wish he hadn't, we finished 3-8

I’m an unapologetic Majors guy but Majors used the preseason as a platform for contract negotiations and it didn’t settle well with a lot of folks.

Throw in Fulmer having success and I personally believe Fulmer saw an opportunity and through behind the scenes maneuvering with Johnson, Doug Dickey, and Joe Johnson pushed Majors out.

Do I believe that Fulmer used going to Auburn as a bargaining chip and that he’d be taking key assistants with him? Absofreakinlutely

It’s the same ploy he used later in the nineties to get new contracts.

No NFL team wanted his arse.
