I would not turn down Dansby Swanson in my lineup, he can do some things to help me beat people, but not for $25.29 million a year when he’s gonna be 35 at the end of the contract and probably not playing shortstop.

That is what is amazing to me. Guys with those kind of career numbers making that kind of money. Hell, the all stars of old didnt make that kind of money, nowhere near it in fact.

Good for him but I wonder how he’s going to like being on a team that is 20 games out in mid August.

Braves should have re-signed him.

Not for those many years.

The Braves aren't dumb.

Reminds me of the Jason Heyward Cubs deal. That contract ended in 2022. He signed a minor league contract a few days ago... he's 34 and has probably played his last inning in the MLB. Career .257 hitter.

Swanson is a career .255 hitter and just had his 2 best seasons in '21 & '22. I think this deal is terrible. Who's going to protect Swanson in that lineup? My guess is that he'll have 180+ Ks again and bat sub .250 with fewer HRs than last season. Wrigley is no joke in April/May and Sept/Oct.

That $177m can be very much better spent on pitching by the Braves. Swanson is not an MVP type player.

My fingers are crossed it’s all part of AA’s plan to give Fried what he deserves soon.
