Forgive my ignorance, but is he not the DH anyway? As well as he hits, I'd be surprised if he didn't hit every game.
Also, on the topic, I have a rules question. If he pitches and is the DH, then does that mean he hasn't been taken out of the game, so he could return as pitcher theoretically?

when the coach hands the line-up cards to the umpire McKay would be marked as P/DH
so when he's removed from the mound he stays in the batting order and the new pitcher isn't forced to bat
I guess theoretically he could go back on the mound... but I imagine that rarely if ever happens
