Not since the days of Jackie Sherrill and Joe Lee Dunn, the sock less monster, has the MSU fanbase been so fearless going into a big contest early in the season. And rightfully so. The Bullies have a better QB, a better front 7 on D, and a very respectable roster elsewhere.
LSU fans are notorious for their unflappable bravado when it comes to State. The SEC's "big city" school routinely storms the gates of the tiny chicken prairie outpost in Starvkille. They drunkenly mock the locals and deplete the town of its small cache of warm beer before joyously heading back to the city to tell their neighbors how Starkville is a shithole. If Mullen can pull off another win against Miles, he will have spoiled that marauding adventure that has been a Cajun birthright for nearly 20 years. Just imagine how bad those Starkville stories get in Baton Rouge if those rapscallion Cajuns are forced to return home with a loss.
In years past, even the notion that State could defend their cowbell outpost against LSU would be dismissed with a hearty, "Yaw, yaw, baw". Now, Mullen has planted that seed of doubt in LSU and hope in his own town. For that alone, the man deserves credit.

They will get exaggerated much the same way OM fans returning with a loss do.
If a loss does indeed get varied back to Red Stick here is a list of topics that will be filling tRant's front page Sunday
1. "I, my wife, my 6 year old or my newborn was attacked by a cowbell". This is an OM favorite. Someone always knows someone who was assaulted by our symbol of pride.
2. "A female member, or members, of our band were raped and or sodomized by some State fans". It still amazes me how an entire band can stand there and watch as two of our fans pull a female or two from their ranks and rape and sodomize them
3. "I'll never go back to that shithole school for a game again!!!111!1!!11!1!!!1!! Those obnoxious State fans kept ringing their cowbell in my, my wife's, my 6 year olds or my newborn infants ears till they started bleeding even after I politely asked them to stop". This is my personal favorite as it was posted by an LSU fan here two years ago. Starkville is the model of polite citizenry.

All classics. Everyone I've ever seen get their asses handed to them in Starkville completely deserved it. Funny how the stories turn into unprovoked cowbell massacre.

While I don't doubt that people tell untrue stories of your stadium as they do every team, it's not possible to have a stadium filled with people ringing cow bells all game and be the model of polite citizens at the same time. I'm not sure those two things are compatible.

That's not entirely true. There's a lot of shite talking, but on more than one occasion on here I've seen them compliment Mullen...especially on player development.

State fans are some of the most hospitable people in the SEC. Just because your own kind save up pulpwood $$ to go drink JD, throw piss and "Tiger bait" doesn't mean others do. Davis-Wade is the epitome of loud hospitality, and you can suck my motherfrickin cock.

Funny, whenever a Bama fan on here mentions the all-time record vs LSU (or the all-time record in Tiger Stadium) the arbitrary cut-off date of 2000 gets instituted in a heartbeat.
