People in places that don't care about college football were interested in watching USC. There isn't a team with that kind of cache around anymore. Maybe Bama can become that team one day but they have a long way to go.
Based on what? Casual fans will watch the super teams. Alabama has had recent and historical success that matches or exceeds USC or anyone else out there.

Pinkel doesn't know how to sell the sec to new recruits? Ummm....okay. Dumbass Pinkel figured out how to get the number 1 recruit on his team.

if we're going to blame any decline on anyone it's conferences like the Big Ten who have traditionally been very good in football but have flat out mailed it in. I blame their suckage, not the SEC for doing what you're supposed to do to win.
Big Ten has won 2 national titles in the last 44 years.

I was speaking of Pinkel's stance the Mizzou really doesn't need to make adjustments to his system coming to SEC. That's been my impression.
Of course there will be some kind of an adjustment period. We are getting used to 12 new teams. But a complete overhaul? No, I dont think that is needed. This is a tougher league without a doubt but we dont need to completely scrap what we have done successfully.

Add two Penn State and 5 Nebraska plus the other two to get the number of titles(9) produced by schools now in the BIG

No matter how you spin it, Big10 has won two titles in 44 years.
Until UN and PSU start adding titles while playing in the conference, past accomplishments are certainly invalid.

Not really. You either love or hate the SEC. i still think their will be a downtrend sometimes soon in the SEC. I hope not, but its inevitable and other conferences will capitalize.

This. There are plenty of teams who have been watching everyone go to the big games without losing fans. Been that way for years. Remember when LSU was fricking ecstatic when we made a bcs bowl? We didn't lose fans bc we never went to the BCSNCG... Just got a lot of bandwagons.

USC under sanctions will challenge the SEC, but in a few years when the sanctions have subsided, I don't think any SEC will be able to compete with USC. Playoffs will only make it harder for SEC teams to compete, IMHO. The BCS in its current iteration has been more beneficial to the SEC than any other entity in college football, but once the playoffs happen, that's not going to be the case anymore.

too much would yes
right now the SEC's run has only gone 6 years - and if there really is a rise of other schools such as USC, tOSU, PSU... or a return to prominence of schools like Texas, Michigan, or Florida State then there will be plenty of interesting schools for non-SEC fans (or SEC haters) to root for

all things being equal it will probably still be at least as easy to succeed at Florida and Texas as it is at USC

That is assuming the crooks Kiffin & Eddie O. are gonna play 'equal' if you catch my drift.

oh kid douch and ogre will cheat up a storm - but I don't believe the good folks in Texas will allow themselves to be out-competed in that department
