not that LSU is a 'trend setter',but as seemingly unusual as dismissing a guy midseason when its not because of an 'off-court' issue, that decision and the hiring of Trent Johnson looks pretty good now. Alabama and Georgia evidently felt the same way and I'd be really surprised if they don't each get good hires.

And then there's Auburn. No NCAA tourney since 2003.Average attendance is starting to rival its women's program. Unless you are Tennessee or Connecticut, that should scare you.

Auburn is and always has been a tough basketball job. But I don't think Auburn has demanded anything unreasonable from Lebo, either.

Will he get one more shot in the new arena next year,or will Auburn just start everything all over again ?

Unless Auburn tanks, I doubt they will fire Jeff Lebo this year. In my opinion, the biggest problems with Auburn basketball are the terrible facilities and the complete lack of fan support. Until those problems get solved, it would be almost impossible for any basketball coach to win at Auburn anyway.

The new arena will open during the 2010-11 season, not next year as you stated. I am skeptical about Auburn fans actually supporting basketball even once the new arena is complete

Whether he gets another year depends on how we finish the season. I think we will finish respectably but not enough to make the tourney. I think 8-8 in league play is likely to get him another year.

Bama's mid year firing was retarded. Either grab your nuts and fire the guy after last year or give him THE ENTIRE YEAR like you said you would.

It could have become really ugly for the University, if he hadn't be fired. His personal life was really messed up, Moore found out about it and he feared that it was about to come out. It's my belief they would have waited had that issue not come up.

If that's really the case, then I have no problem with it.

A lot of people think Mike Anderson (Missourri) will be the guy because he's from Birmingham. I wouldn't really say that there's one hot name right now.

That'd be a big time hire. The west would be pretty strong in the future between Johnson, Anderson, Stansbury, and Kennedy....sorry au

Unless the timeline has been updated, the new Auburn Arena doesn't open for basketball until the start of the 2010-2011 season.

I think Lebo gets one more year to see what he can do, see if he can bring in some players that will make an impact. If there isn't a marked improvement next season, I could see him getting shitcanned in the middle of the year and bring in someone new to try to build excitement for the 2010-11 season and the move into the new building.

if we go 3-3 we end up with 18 wins which is his high for Auburn. I doubt he gets canned cause we will likely go 3-3 or better down the stretch.

No, the biggest problem has been the product on the court. Lebo has not been able to recruit any talent to the Plains. Granted, it's a tough basketball job, but there has been little or no improvement during Lebo's tenure. Fire him.
