Roll with it if you want, but it makes no sense.
Every time our crew set up tailgating on opposing campuses, opposing fans were asking to share our food, which we did. Same for on campus in BR. Gumbo, jambalaya, alligator sauce piquante, etc., were all cooked and shared with opposing fans. Nobody was ever making corndogs a tailgating choice when this moniker originated.
If anything, corndogs are more of a staple of Mississippi or Texas fare.
