OM has won 24 games this season and played 11 games against sweet 16 teams going 6-5 against them. None of that is cinderella territory

Yep, I see people post that, and if you had struggled this season, or been a smaller conference team, then yeah, Cinderella fits, but Ole Miss is a very good team in a major conference.

Well Auburn isnt a nobody. lol

Certainly not, but your program isn’t far removed from being on the bottom limb before Pearl came. I had a very strong feeling he could turn your program around and y’all seemed so miserable I was happy for you.

Ole Miss was in that bad spot but now they have beard who I’m certain can turn that program around as well. Pretty similar situations just a few years apart.

Funny how the past is forgotten so quickly…..

We definitely do not have any Cinderellas this year. Cinderellas are typically really low seeded teams (maybe 12 or below) who have tremendous success and end up going to a Sweet 16 or better

Agreed. Loyola Chicago & Sister Jean, Davidson, George Mason, Saint Peter's (sorry!) are the type of Cinderellas I always think of/remember.

I remember where we were. The reality of then is long gone.

There is widespread parity instead. Auburn literally has a decent shot at the national championship. I cant care less about Loyola or Sister Jean.

And that upsets folks here.

I think the future of College Basketball will be pretty chalky - just consider Kentucky. This team is just about all mid-majors or kids from Power 5s that weren't playing, with two kids that followed Pope from BYU and a couple Kentucky kids that play spot minutes.

Now here's the thing - I think you have to do it like Pope did it. You have to have a concept, and go after the mid-major kids that fit your vision for the team you want to put on the floor. You can't BUY a team - any more than A&M could buy a football team.

That's the big unspoken secret. It's not football. You have to blend these twelve pinheads - of which only eight or nine will see minutes. There have been PLENTY of NCAA Basketball teams that were too talented to win.
