re: Congrats to OU. Not as popular a sport, but just as staggering a dynasty as Saban has....

OU fans are obsessed with softball and gymnastics. I guess it makes sense to talk about the sports that win in the postseason
We all remember the awesome 6-3 national title game you had no business in…. When you have finished undefeated or won more NCs than OU then you can talk. Your last nc your team was on probation right after and you team didn’t even make a bowl game. You went from being a NC winner to the worst team who won the NC the previous year … it’s called a fluke year …..

So tell me this... Why does most softball stadium only seat up to 3,000 fans and college basketball arenas are more than 10,000 if softball is the #2 sport and people enjoy it more than basketball lol
Are you being serious?
Most if not all womens basketball teams use the same arena as mens.
And to answer softball go back 40 years and softball was barely going compared to mens baseball had been going for over 100 years. And as you should know 40 years ago and prior womens sports was just something to check a box and say you had it but no college was putting any real money in it because it was a money loser. Who was going to build a big softball field 40 years ago? Who was going to pay for it?
Nowadays its making money and society is pushing and supporting womens sports way more, plus TV ratings are way up and you are seeing that growth. That in turn will find new sponsors/donors to give money for new softball fields.
Both private and college are putting money into OU building a new field. But they will not overbuild them and end up with empty fields either, so softball is being smart with how big to make them. This still “limited” seating will increase seat demand and push prices up which in turn will be fed back into the program to pay for coaches and training facilities and recruiting. Its smart.
