Congrats to OU. Not as popular a sport, but just as staggering a dynasty as Saban has....

built result wise. My niece played softball at the Div. II level and was all conference for a couple of years there and should have been MVP of the conference her senior year but finished second due to politics. I do enjoy the sport.

Just have not taken kindly to being told my football posts don't matter during (name the sport) season. The site address is www.secrant.com/rant/sec-football

It’s quite impressive. The sport seemed it was becoming a national sport. But Oklahoma has monopolized it like UCLA and Arizona once did.

Son, I suggest you live in reality. I guess you think you were close to winning it all last year.

Yep. I hate Bama but they put Georgia fans to shame.

People downgrading softball right now are just foolish … you can’t deny it’s a growing sport and probably gojng to be right behind football for most schools . Basketball baseball are great sports but softball just seems to be more exciting to watch. Once you have a dog in the fight it only takes a season to get hooked. The level of play is outstanding and even being a womens sport they really are elite athletes doing amazing things.

Its funny how some say this dynasty will kill the sport while mentioning the UCLA and Arizona ones a few decades ago. If those dynasties killed the sport then OU wouldn’t be playing right now and TV ratings wouldn’t be beating baseball ratings.

Softball is a sexist sport and I refuse to support it. They had to dumb down baseball for women. Insulting.

I support softball, but this is a pretty bold statement. The most viewers for a softball game this season was 1.37 million viewers. The LSU national championship basketball game drew 9.9 million.

Softball is the 4th or 5th most popular sport in college.

College Football
Men's Basketball
Women's Basketball
Then Softball and Baseball are in the next two spots. Softball might be 4th ahead of baseball.

Mulkey man I get it every school has a key sport because they are good at it … answer this for me ….. before Mulkey came to LSU was they as relevant in women’s basketball did all you LSU fans care as much about basketball as you did back then ? I was here and I know that answer. As a whole women’s basketball isn’t a great sport . Now will I watch for my school yes I support all sports .

Not as popular as football and basketball but more popular than college baseball that this board seems to emphasize. Coverage of every game by ESPN and ABC.

It's always great to see SEC programs be successful in unimportant sports, so they will pour money into them that could have gone to football.

I just can’t picture myself bragging about women’s sports. It just doesn’t trigger the emotion in me like baseball or Football

LSU was relevant in basketball long before Coach Mulkey. We went to six consecutive Final Fours.

As to what sport is a "great sport,' that is a matter of personal opinion. Obviously more people think women's basketball is a great sport than do softball. I like them both.

It's a good tv sport cause it goes fast. I think it has growth potential. It's never gonna be a major money generator but Oklahoma is actually making money off of it. Happy that little girls could have athletes to look up to vs youtubers if they want.

Well look at these TV numbers. All this talk OU is killing the sport lol. Only killing being done is TV killing it in the ratings.

For perspective comparing to baseball the past 2 years. And softball was ip this year again

Huh. Wonder if home-field advantage has anything to do with it.

I do know a few brothers watch it sometimes to look at thick white women. Other than that they could care less who's playing or who wins. lol
