We’ve seen similar concert stampedes in the past
Reminds me of The Who in the late 70's. WKRP did an episode about it, and in 1982, shortly after having watched it with my parents, I went to a Rush concert in Jax. It was general admission and we got there early enough and ran fast enough to be front row against the stage barricade. When Tom Sawyer started, the crowd surged forward and I was crushed against the wall enough to make breathing difficult. Lasted less than a minute, and it was to me exhilarating combined with the show. I vaguely remember seeing a few fans being carried out between the barricade and stage afterward.
When I got home my Mom was frantic, Jax 4 had reported minor injuries at the Rush concert and had to make it stick with a reference to what had happened in Cincinnati. I was 16 then, and going to concerts were miserable fights with my Mom for the next couple years.
I've never had kids, and I can understand her panic now, but at the time it was just a great moment in a young life.
It it turns out the behavior was encouraged, that is despicable. At least with The Who and many close encounters such as mine, the intentions were good.

didn't mean to imply that you could see something similar to the soccer crush. I agree that's not really possible the way our stadiums are set up.
People can, though get seriously injured and killed when pinned or trampled by people rushing the field. It is, as you said, very rare but so are people getting trampled at music concerts and yet here we
Definitely and that tragedy led to a complete redesign in how the UK handled crowds and soccer events. It also changed how they did admissions (they had kind of had a very open admissions to general areas without assigned seating. I think that whatever happened at Astroworld will reveal really poor design. The fact that they were worried about the crowd vibe is almost always a portent.
I’ve always had a personal rule with crowds and that’s the moment they feel funky I’m gone. And I don’t mean upset fans or booing. You can just tell when you’re somewhere where shite is about to hit the fan. It’s similar to a crowd just being excited for something but it feels all wrong.

It was a satanic ritual unbeknownst to the idiot spectators

Apparently Travis Scott encouraged people to rush the stage, even those without tickets.
He has encouraged people to rush the stage and attack security at his shows on multiple occasions in the past and has even attempted to incite a crowd to attack a teenager who touched his shoe when he was crowd surfing. If there is any justice in the world (spoiler alert: there isnt) he will be rendered completely destitute by all the lawsuits coming his way.

The entire thing is heartbreaking for all involved, and unfortunately this isn’t the first or last time it happens but as a parent of 2 little boys, can someone explain to me why in the hell you would have kids under the age of 10 at a music festival that is highlighted by Travis Scott? Seeing the ages of the kids there both killed and injured that’s the one part I cannot wrap my mind around.
