Friday Night, Best Meals?
Check out the cheeseburger at Koppe Bridge. Also great is the wing and tender combo at "Wings N More" (make sure you get hot garlic sauce). The Chicken actually makes a pretty good burger, as does Fitzwilly's (order the Cowboy Choice - cheeseburger, fries, and a draft beer for about $6).

Any decent Golf? on Friday before.
If you can find someone to get you on at Traditions then you're golden. Otherwise, there's a crappy campus course unless you want to travel around the hill country outside town. Pecan Lakes in Navasota is a well-kept Texas secret. Cheap as hell as well.

best breakfast spot on Sunday morning?
Good question. I usually wake up late enough to head over to Layne's for a club (chicken finger sandwich). I'll leave breakfast suggestions to my fellow Ags.

In the SEC, it's not just a "day trip" it's where old college friends come together and make a weekend out of it. At least at LSU it's that way.
Good. I'd love to see a weekend planned out for each SEC school detailing where to eat and what to see.

Bar closing time in College Station?
Posted on 9/28/11 at 12:33 pm to atllsu
2 am. used to be able to have kegs and other containers at the back of Northgate but that got taken away by the city a few years ago.
One word of advice...do not speed coming down highway 6, you will pay dearly for it. In fact just try not to meet BCS cops at all during your time here.

I would say it's more of a bar scene than a club scene on Northgate, but still a hell of a lot of fun and your best bet on game weekends.
There are some good restaurants around. If you're looking for great Texas barbecue, you'll be disappointed, but there are some decent places. Freebirds burritos is the place former students used to go to when they made it back into town. Koppe Bridge is great for burgers.
The area has grown quite a bit since I was an undergrad there in the early '90s. It isn't quite the sticks anymore.

Pretty sure if I lived where the bars closed at 4 or don't close at all I would be dead. Looking forward to visiting though.

College Station is famous for burritos and "The Dixie Chicken" , a road trip to there is great if you're 74 years old.

I'm kind of disgusted that all the "best meals" you listed are wings and burgers...
Louisiana really does have the best food in the world. Our tailgates will blow you out of the water.

College Station is pretty horrible but it's not Starkville bad.
They may have the 12th man, but they also have the 12th best city to visit in the SEC.

No arguing that.

It really is a fantastic burger, though.
The original C&Js BBQ in Bryan is pretty good, but their new locations are terrible.
One thing to keep in mind is that the food reflects the town. East Texas is very much a burgers and beer place. Consequently, A&M gets both of those very right. I presume Baton Rouge does cajun food in much the same way.
That being said, I've only been to NO twice, and if y'all have any food in Baton Rouge that is anywhere close to what I ate on those weekends, then I'll happily concede food supremacy to you.

Besides, you'll probably be eating brisket tacos, beef ribs and jalapeno cheddar sausage for free at a friendly A&M tailgate before the game anyway.

You will have a new perspective on tailgate food once you make a trip to Tiger Stadium.

You know, Starkville actually wasn't as terrible as everyone makes it out to be. They have a decent little strip, even if the bars do close way too early. Solid greek life, hung out with guys from our MSU chapter. And the women were much much better than advertised.
Thank you for having balls enough to acknowledge that on here. Most people bitching about Starkville have A) never been B) not been since the early 90s or C) came to a game but did not stay in Starkville.
C) is the biggest reason most never experience Starkville. We don't have many hotels and they sell out for football weekends a year in advance.
I assure you that if you come to Starkville and find somewhere to stay, Starkville is no different than any other SEC town not located in a major city.

when Red Lobster wins "Best of the Brazos" for seafood you know you're in for shitty food...
Ugh, I'm from Tensas Parish/Monroe; and yes, the food in CS is absolutely horrible...
and if you see somewhere in CS serving crawfish...RUN FROM THAT shite!!!!

What the hell are you talking about? Come see the campus, goto George Bush Library, goto downtown Bryan, drink beer, check out the college girls, drink more beer, tailgate, watch a football game, and then GTFO.
I think he has it right....
