from past national champions, polls, coaches, etc. Great stuff written by one person with valid arguments and points. For anyone who likes a great debate, this is a great place to view.

So he says Tennessee is the national champion for 1950 even though OU finished #1 in both the AP and Coaches but then he says Maryland is the national champ for 1951 even though the Vols finished #1 in the AP and Coaches.

Yep, he's a clown. Says Bama can't claim 1964, 1973, and 1978.

Ah yes.. 1964.

Alabama finished 10-1 with a loss to Texas.
Texas finished 10-1 with a loss to Arkansas.
Arkansas finished 11-0.

In the 60s bowl games were glorified exhibition matches. Coaches let the players have fun and goof off while in vacation to places like California, New Orleans, etc.

Angry Arky posters downvoting while being ignorant that both major polls didn't give a shite about bowl games.

National champions did not exist before the BCS.
They were only winners of the AP popularity contest.

No surprise an LSU fan doesn't know about the Bowl Alliance.

That makes no sense considering only Bama has won more national title games than UF.
Here's the Bowl Alliance national title trophy:

Here it is being awarded on the field after Nebraska beat Peyton 42-10:

1. Arky wasn't #1 in either poll at the end of the 1965 regular season.
2. Losing in the Cotton Bowl to LSU screwed you.

National titles were awarded at the end of the regular season prior to the bowl games. That's why OU won the title in 1950, despite losing to UK in the Sugar Bowl. Or Auburn won the title in 1957, despite not playing in a bowl. Or Michigan State won the title in 1965 despite losing the Rose Bowl to UCLA. Or Tennessee won the title in 1951 despite losing to Maryland in the Sugar Bowl...

And if "better records" meant anything, in 1937, Alabama finished 8-0-1 while national champion, Minnesota finished 7-1; in 1945, Alabama finished 10-0 (with a Rose Bowl win) while National Champion, Army, finished 9-0, skipping out on the bowl season; In 1966, Alabama finished 11-0, while National Champion(s) Notre Dame and Michigan State (co-champs) both finished 9-0-1; In 1974, Alabama finished 11-1, while National Champion USC finished 10-1-1...

Also in 1977, Alabama and Notre Dame finished the season 11-1 yet ND was awarded the NC. But Notre Dame's only loss came against Ole Miss, a team Alabama steamrolled that year.

And all those titles ND claims when they were scared to play in a bowl.

The screwing we got was bad enough to change the rules, then we were screwed because we changed the rules. Flip flop those years and we win back to back maybe.

This is our luck.

It wouldn’t be so bad if I hadn’t lived during it.

Except y'all didn't get screwed. You weren't #1 in either poll.
