Coaches running up score/leaving Heisman player in to pad stats

I've seen this be the case a few times over the past couple years. Do you agree or disagree with a coach deciding to leave his first team in to run up the score for statistics/ranking purposes and feeding the ball to their studs to help their AA/Heisman hopes, or should they shut it down after they are up 4 TDs in the 4th quarter?

Why not? It's the other teams job to stop them.

Sorry faggy, this question has nothing to do with you or your team. Don't flatter yourself, kid.

Just have the defensive players go head hunting. Continue to late hit the shite out of the qb until the other coach decides it's time to pull him. So what if you're getting 15 yard penalties if you're already getting your brains beat in.

If Geno sparked this, he had to throw for 8 or they would have lost

If coaches feel the need to leave players in, I don't care. There is a bunch of money to be made off a Heisman.

The only one I can think of right now....maybe Reggie bush?

I'm just looking back at ESPN game logs from Heisman contenders over the last 2-3 years and noticing that a lot of those teams kept these guys in well into the fourth quarter despite having large leads, which not only is boosting their individual stats, but also the team stats.
Not saying I agree or disagree with this...just curious what other people thought.

Running up the score is bush league. I hate it. But, as I understand running up the score, you can't do it with your backups in the game (unless it is REALLY out of hand). When coaches get an insurmountable lead, they should pull their starters and let the backups run the normal offense. (I didn't really think A&M ran the score up, though Johnny might have played one series too long. That's a little understandable since Johnny is a freshmen who needs work and has missed extensive time already this year.)
Also - A 4 TD lead in the third quarter is NOT an insurmountable lead.

Sam Bradford and Colt McCoy in 2008.

As long as they aren't pulling a Mike Leach (i.e. calling timeout up 14 with 30 seconds left to get a play in and score) I don't really believe in that anyone "runs up the score".
It is our job to score, and your's to stop us.

I honestly think that it shows very little class and/or utter stupidity, to leave your starters in a game, in which you clearly have a large lead, in the 4th quarter. Especially if your intent is run up the score or pad stats. Why not give, your younger players a chance to develop? Why not play the game with class? You can dominate and kick people's arse but you can do it without humilating them...

i agree and disagree...bama does what you are talking about...plays the younger guys, and it has paid off...but at the same time...i am a football coach...and we will go until the final whistle blows...60 minutes...frick em...

A good example of this was the A&M vs OU 77-0 debacle. For all the humiliation that stemed from that game I think Stoops actually showed some class with the way he played him team.
