Coach O is LSU’s Bear Bryant. Just a perfect match.

And I don’t mean that in any sort of bad way. He’s a great guy and just fits the program and state perfectly. He kinda plays it up a little but the man is awesome. It’s just frustrating because your fans are batshite
ETA: I also don’t think this is a flash in the pan either. I think y’all are back to the prime Miles years even if y’all drop off a little next year.

Oh everyone is in their own way. Being a Saints fan I enjoy the crossover on Sunday with the Tigers. It’s just when they put on the purple and gold it gets a little crazier.

They will be calling for his head this time next year.

I think Bama’s success has driven people to borderline impossible standards. LSU is about to have a great recruiting class and I think they’ll be 9-3 at absolute worst next year.

Orgeron has exceeded my expectations by a mile and has showed he learned from his stint at Ole Miss and is a much better coach now.

Having said that the "cultural fit" is a bit over played. Orgeron didn't even go to LSU and at times has recruited and acted in ways that didn't help LSU. This isn't a Spurrier - Florida connection; or say Kirby-UGA.

I like how he talks but it's hardly representative of the entire State either.

Saban, Miles and Orgeron couldn't be more different in backgrounds and personality and all had success at LSU. Credit them, many others haven't; but this idea it has to be a "home boy" is just not true.

I want him to win an NC at LSU more than anything. That would be incredible.

He's obviously not Saban -- I mean Saban is a good man and all but there's something about Saban that could be misconstrued by non-Alabama fans as "unlikable". Could be he's a bit mechanical, I don't know and that's ok. No one will ever please everybody.

However, Coach O could very well end up being the most liked LSU head coach ever (if not the country) especially if he can get at least one win against Alabama -- that won't hurt things one bit. Coach O is all class too. He never has a bad word for any other program either. He's a good man.

Would love to see this for him more than any coach I can remember.

Ive been labeled an O Hater daily for the past 3 years, but its really hard to argue with at this point.

He had a pretty good ride last year and has kicked it up a level this year, which is pretty much ahead of schedule. Then he made a seemingly great hire in Brady, which was my #1 concern for O.

I'l just sit back and shut up for a while

I think he enrolled but quit without even going to practice or class. For sure never played a down. He isn’t exactly a Kevin Faulk or Glenn Dorsey that even declined the draft to play for LSU one more year.

I like Orgeron but he is NOT an LSU alumni or player.

He played his freshman year and then quit. He got talked into going to northwestern state by Bobby Hebert.

Per LSUSports.net

quote:

Orgeron signed to play football at Louisiana State University, but left the program after his first year to transfer to Northwestern State

Also per the Google:

quote:

a·lum·nus /?'l?mn?s/ plural noun: alumni a graduate or former student, especially a male one, of a particular school, college, or university

So he’s a former player AND alum. Ha! Take that!!!
