To delay the starting date of Academic year.
He said school starting at early to middle of August would put UT football team at a disadvantage to recruit and enroll NFL players.

Blame the NCAA for excluding the 2022 class. They did this shite on purpose. At worst case scenario, if the team was full, let the player coming back transfer.

Why do they keep pretending the players go to class and do their own work anyways?
I went to college at Faulkner for my freshman year in Montgomery Al. Even their players didnt do their own work.
NAIA level so imagine D1 SEC.

I remember 20 years ago we were always sweating this last week before games started wondering if we would have some non-qualifiers and discussing whether some recruits may come in and not qualify.

Yep, it used to be a thing. Bama would always have a 5 star or highly touted freshman who had the fans scared wouldnt clear.
