uhh, Alabama is the most "established" football program in the nation and has been a long damn time.

Calm your tits.

ND, Michigan and OSU are media darlings that don’t deserve 60% of the hype they get....yet we hear about them more than we should.

Wrap your mind around that crazy stat.

Insane....

As a Bama fan it's been awesome (outside of the losses to Clemson of course) but I got to imagine this is bad for college football's health overall.

Maybe. Maybe not. College football has long been dominated by a select few teams, and they seem to rotate through. There was a time when the dominate teams were:

Texas
Oklahoma
Ohio State
Michigan
Notre dame
USCw

And so forth. Clemson is a relative newcomer to the dominating teams, and Alabama is probably closer to the end of their reign than the beginning. When Saban retires (he will retire, won't he?) we should see Alabama drop off a bit. The next question will be, "Who will take their place?" Will it be one of the old standbys, or will a new team step up and do well?

Texas only has 3 national titles, and 2 were decided by polls.

doesn't sound like domination

Alabama has won more national titles than any team in the nation, at least since thke 19th century, and more games than any team in the nation, at least since 1925. Alabama is also the most consistent winner of national titles, with titles in 6 different decades.

All programs wane occasionally, and sporadic winners come and go, but Alabama is a consistent contender and champion.

edit: but if you were to say Alabama is near the end of Saban's reign, I would agree. If Alabama wins a national title this year, I wouldn't be surprised if he retired.
