New article I think with more details. The girls sister called the cops and said that it was not an emergency.

1-he left her home after being asked to leave
Definitely a plus on his part
quote:
2-the cops had the girl call him - aggravating the situation perhaps
I'm not sure what police protocol would be in this situation, but they probably should have just arrested him.
quote:
3-she told the judge with her mom present that she didn't mean to have CR arrested. (why call them then is my question).
Tht's my question too, which is why I put so little stok in what she told the judge. As I said before, many victims in cases like these recant due to fear of being blamed (especially ere, where it involves a star football player) or fear that courts will do nothing but make the situation worse.
quote:
Anyway, as more facts come out I will post more. The insider board seems to have someone that knows the girl and he is saying that more details are coming and it may not be what it seems. I have no idea if the guy knows the girl for real or not. You know how these boards are.
Yet another problem with cses like these. OFten the victim has problems of her own, makig it easier to shift blame to her or chalk it up as a misunderstanding. The very fact that she would have anything to do with him after recieving a text like that (whether he meant it or not) leads me to believe this girl has serious issues herself (I noticed the newspaper articl didn't say her father was there, just her mother and sister- that could be a clue right there). I cannot imagine any of the girls I have dated or am frieds with having anything to do with someone who would send a text like that.
quote:
I hope that make the right decision on what to do and will support whatever is decided because I certainly don't know much about the intricate details.
That's true. I just hope they keep in mind that the issue is not solely whether he he is a danger to this one girl, but a danger to other girls at the University of Florida. I hope they reach a good decision as well.

Chris Rainey arrested
HAHAHA
YES THATS IT!
Tough loss for Florida on offense. That just means more young people get to play.

This definitely further muddies the waters. Any girl with a lick of sense would have called the police upon recieving a text like that. Why was it her sister that called? Of course, the girl could have been right that there was no danger, but it is still a very disturbing text to the average person. This points toward a young girl who probably cannot appreciate her own situation. As I said before, I found it interesting that there was no father present at the courtroom.

Road gator, it is nice to see (after what I read on Gator Country) a fan that looks past football and sees the potential seriousness of the situation (whether it turns out to be real or not). kudos for that

just read on Twitter that Addazio said Rainey is not a member of the team right now.

Debose better learn the plays quicker. Rainey, your a dumb arse and even if you were playing, what you said, is a serious matter. IMO he needs to grow the frick up, he's only 22 years old. Rainey may be the most overrated player Florida has had in the last 2-3 years. I'm all for Debose and Patton in the slot.

He shouldn't be. Now you know why Rainey isn't available to the media anymore. Meyer cut him off in the spring because he doesn't have the maturity.
IMO Rainey will easily be replaced in the offense. Many of the kids haven't done much that are behind him, but neither has Rainey in his stint at Florida.

Just read the entire thread at GC. Seemed to me at least half of the posters want him either kicked out of school, off the team, or suspended for the remainder of the season. The other half consisted of posters stating everything from "it's no big deal" to "let's wait until we have all the facts." I think your characterization is off a bit.

I've been reading he texted people about money he received from UF boosters while in HS. I wonder where those rumors came from?

most of the posters were worrying about how it would affect their football team (instead of, ya know, worrying about whether a young woman's life was in danger) and a sizable portion was chalking it up to boys being boys, or "getting in trouble over pussy." Either is a disturbing position and plenty were taking one of the two.

Link showing where boosters gave him money. Don't you think the NCAA would have already taken care of that based on his stupid comment regarding the cash.

You expected anything different from a free football message board?
The pay board I visit is a lot more kick him out of the program than I anticipated but that tune is changing as more facts come out. Now it's leaning more toward let's wait and see.

Over/under for the suspension period, according to the Urban Myth disciplinary system: suspended until the bus ride to the aiport for the UThug game.
I'm taking the under.

That might be funny save for the fact that he isn't on the team right now.

I guess not. When people worry over a game rather thn a young woman's life, well, I guess that says it all. Not just Florida fans, people in this country in general.

I can appreciate the wait and see crowd. It simply disturbs me that when a football player sends a threatening message to a woman, there are actually people who worry about how that will affect a game before they worry about how that will affect a life. This is not a Florida problem, it happens eerywhere, but it still disturbs me.

I don't agree with your use of "most". There were some, yes. Again, though, the majority immediately condemned it and asked that a severe punishment, up to being kicked out of school and off the team, be meted out.
All of that said, that there were ANY who would be more concerned about getting Rainey on the field or that "it's not a big deal" or "boys will be boys", etc. is appalling. I agree with that.
Given the situation with the UVA lacrosse players, I don't think the university has any choice but hand down a severe punishment, even if the victim doesn't want charges pressed and calls it a misunderstanding. What will happen, I guess remains to be seen.

Try to keep up buddy. I highly doubt he's on the sideline for the UT game, considering he's not even apart of the team right now.

The board I visit is not worried about her safety based on what's come out and CR not having a past filled with violence.
Now, all the fathers on the board that have daughters have expressed how they would handle it.
They (most of the board) have moved on to who in the hell is going to take his place.
