we're on national TV and we have a boat load of empty seats. We've invited all the boy scouts, cub scouts, girl scouts and hell, even granny scouts but we're sill not able to fill up the stadium. So please...get your none supporting asses in the seats so that it looks as though we actually give a shite about football here at auburn.

Could the point been to encourage the students to show good sportsmanship? Petrino said the fans at Auburn are respectful of our team when visiting. They applaud for you when you get there and don't cuss at or flip the team off.

Damn, I hate to have to say it, but there is nothing wrong with it at all. I think it's great for a head coach to communicate with the fans, and express that thier support is needed and appreciated. I hate to say it, but I wasn't real happy with Coach Saban when he told us how to act for Penn State. First of all, I don't boo the other team, because I think it's silly and childish, but as much money as I pay to this school and also for tickets, I'll think I could pretty much boo if I want to.
I don't think that you will find too many Bama fans that have anything negative to say about Coach Chizik. He seems to concentrate on his own team, and doesn't say negative things about other teams/fan bases, so he seems to be a pretty likeable guy. He's not like Tubby at all. We can like him, but not want him to beat us.

There's nothing wrong with it. Given that it's about 75% nonsense, it's still a valid and effective way for the coach to help build a bond between the students and the team, not to mention help his own stock marginally (winning the way he is does more than anything in this regard, of course). But more than anything it helps build enthusiasm, which is just fine.
