If chicken is smart, he'll sell ASAP. When the YN"s take over, he's fried.

The general idea when buying a business is 3-10 years of profit.

You would part with money to acquire this dump?

The total income of the site would definitely exceed that number in just one year. I doubt you are even close to having a big enough offer.

Back in 2012 the site had “over 60M page views per month.”
My original estimate was probably wrong. You’d probably have to do 5M to acquire the site. What matters most is how much work Chicken has to put into it and if he enjoys that work. If the site is mostly ran by employees and he’s at the passive income stage of owing it you’d probably have to go 10-15M.

That's it? Better sell soon, trant seems to be going down hill.

I support this move.
I know that with Arkansas at the helm, signature images will make a comeback and there'll be a car in every garage and a chicken in every pot.
Harry I highly recommend going the private equity route. Imagine - SECRant brought to you by Kroger - $1 off private selection cheese

Buying a site like this would be very risky though. There is no real way to prevent Chicken from starting another site just like it under his wife or kids name and competing with you. If you make changes(people hate change) people will hate you and look for a new SEC site. If you don’t make any changes (people also have high expectations when business change ownership) as the new owner people will hate you for not “fixing the issues with the site.” Lose lose proposition imho

If it were me Id do my best to detemine what it makes in a year then offer that number x 10.
I think the full potential isnt close to tapped out

The site is definitely making more than it was a few year ago because we don’t have the annoying ad every 5 posts anymore.

I agree it could be improved by someone with prior experience running a forum.
However, for most of us it would probably end up being a money pit. Especially since there isn’t a real way to prevent Chicken from starting another site and someone else on this forum that has money would definitely start one as soon as ownership changes hands since people hate change.

Just look at WoolyAl and Shaggy Bevo for context. Both sites were thriving when this one was fairly new and they are both gone. Likely killed by Chicken’s push for SECRant instead of being satisfied with just Tigerdroppings.

We will pay Chicken annual royalties
