Im too lazy to look it up, but I'd be curious to see acting SEC coaches NCAA tourny career record.

And yet still got taken to the woodshed by Aggies in the SEC tourney. I wonder how badly Gonzaga will whoop up on Arky?
Also...ill keep Barnes thank you. He has built a special team that will be fully mature in 2023.

No one cares about the conference tournament

You're Tennessee. All your players are special.

quote:Yeah, that's it right there. Only argument that can even be made is elite 8 = conference title, but, I agree it's more like sweet 16.
I think this is my breakdown as well
Final Four > anything conference
Elite Eight > anything conference
Sweet 16 = Conference title
Conference title > 1st/2nd round

indeed. it has happened only once since 2003. Granted you went to the Final Four in 2019, but you finished 4th in the SEC that year, so no trophy. hmmm.
You win your regional and make the final 4 and you get an NCAA trophy.
For me it is about the hardware.

Agree - making the 2nd weekend feels like an accomplishment. If you get there you had a very good year. That's kind of the cutoff for me, too.
Making the 2nd weekend means every damn thing is still on the table. Even a team with some flaws. 2 wins from the Final Four.

Also agree. Every tournament appearance, championship, sweet 16, elite 8, final four (hopefully for us at some point) is adding a block to a program resume that helps move it ahead of the glut of other SEC programs that we are all kind of in behind Kentucky and Arkansas (and Florida, technically, but I think everyone kind of looks at that as a Donovan thing and not a program thing).
Agree. I desperately want Final Four #7. It separates us from a pack of teams who have 6 Final Fours historically and puts us right on the heals of Indiana from an all time ranking perspective. I believe we currently have a coach who can get the program on a run similar to Sutton and maybe with some luck a run like Nolan.
Agree on Florida...each year they seem to get farther and farther away from what Donovan built there. Felt like they held on to White too long.

Which doesn't mean a hill of beans. Arkansas got blown out in the 1994 SEC Tourney Semi-finals and went on to win the National Title. Nobody gives a shite.

Maybe they will, maybe they won't. We all know that that opportunity doesn't exist for your team sitting at home.

Said every fan of a team Barnes has coached his entire coaching career. The guy folds in the NCAAt every chance he gets.

I think Chandler returns. Everyone assuming he won't are a bit cynical imo.

LOL what? He's projected as the #1 or #2 pure PG in the NBA Draft along with TyTy.

South Carolina doesn't even have a basketball coach right now, and ironically he/she is our best coach in the last 25 years.
