Vaught was a drunk. And I don't think Ole Miss was a legit NC that year.

You would be too if you were an Ole Miss coach and had to live in Oxford.

If Alabama claimed all their national championships, we'd have 17.

Most all the big programs would have more if they claimed them all. No excuse for claiming a year when you finished number 20.

How about 1960? Ole Miss goes 9-0-1 and Minnesota goes 8-1. Ole Miss finishes second and Minnesota gets the national championship. I'm counting before the bowls too, since that's when they decided championships back then. If bowl games were counted, it's more like 10-0-1 to 8-2.

Ole Miss truly was hosed in 1960. If you look at the AP poll archive and how Ole Miss and Minnesota moved around late in the year, the Rebels really got screwed.

How anyone can even pretend Sly Croom is the best coach in that state is laughable. Thad Vann at Southern Miss was a better coach.

Vaught was the best, period.
