I think we should edit this list down to coaches that were put into the hall of fame for achievements done at ONE particular school.

For instance, Bear Bryant wasn't put into the College Football Hall of Fame for what he did at A&M and Kentucky. He was put into the Hall of Fame for what he did at Alabama. Same thing goes for Lou Holtz at Arkansas and South Carolina. He wasn't put into the hall of fame for his achievements in Fayetteville. He was put into the hall of fame for what he did at Notre Dame.

The Hall of Fame really needs to raise its standards.

It's basically if you win the NC, you are most likely getting in unless you committed atrocities right after.

Not necessarily. The College Football Hall of Fame has a winning percentage stipulation on coaches too. Gene Stallings got in because of his efforts to fund research for down syndrome. Obviously his national title helped too. But there is a clause for "good works".

For a coach to be eligible for the college football hall of fame....

quote:

A coach becomes eligible three years after retirement or immediately following retirement provided he is at least 70 years of age. Active coaches become eligible at 75 years of age. He must have been a head coach for a minimum of 10 years and coached at least 100 games with a .600 winning percentage

Well was going to suggest Paul Dietzel who won a national title at LSU and was average at a then independent-SC the .600 average knocks him out.

What's the bold for?

The bold is for coaches who are listed under more than one SEC school.
