Sounds like they found out from other coaching staffs, which may have caused some trust issues. Seems like they want to wait until the coaching carousel is complete before finalizing it.

Correct and I could understand how that would upset them. However, how did the other coaching staffs find out? And if the other coaching staffs knew, how is that no recruiting insiders, Gator insiders or anyone else had any idea Williams was leaving? That type of information doesn't typically stay under wraps when it is discussed by so many individuals.

The coaching world spreads info fast and it had to get out through channels.

If we're going by what his father says then NO. That was a silly question.

I understand that, but this type of stuff doesn't stay secret. It caught all the insiders by surprise, not something that happens too often.

That's not the case, according to what you posted earlier, his father did say they knew he was leaving. He claimed they weren't told by McElwain.

Link where his father said this.
Never mind I know what you are referring to now. Yes according to his father they knew through other coaches. However, is it not bad that McEllwain wasn't one of them?

I thought it was you who posted this, my mistake. It was earlier and has been posted a couple times, it comes from the Rivals writer.

-- The Jefferson's found out that coach Williams was headed to the NFL from other coaches recruiting him because coach McElwain was calling around looking for a defensive line coach for a week. The Florida staff never told the Jeffersons Williams was leaving.

If McElwain never did? Certainly, that would be bad. I just don't believe that to be the case. Even if the other coaches tipped the Jeffersons off, at some point McElwain would have had to address it.

My thought is since it was rumors they decided to choose UF but waited to see what would happen.
I was kidding about McEllwain being stupid, but he has made some horrible decisions it seems.
If he stays with UF then it wasn't as bad as it seems.
Or the money was increased....

At this point all anyone can do is guess. It has seemed to me that his father was disgruntled he didn't choose another school and so I've taken everything he's said with a grain of salt. If he ends up going somewhere else, maybe there is more to this than what I've thought. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Serious question, would you send your son there after this? It's deceptive, and definitely isn't how a man should handle business.

DeeChilllin: Getting off the phone with coach strong "coach rumph did not accept the offer" ??

It would piss me off too, but as I said I don't believe McElwain and the Jeffersons never had the conversation. I think at some point they talked about it whether Mac brought it up or they did.

what is there to gain by lying? CeCe is a Florida fan. He wants to go to Florida.

It's definitely possible, but that just doesn't add up to me. If they were lying about this whole situation, they'd be burning a bridge to UF, or at the very least, creating a hostile environment for Cece.

At this point it's only the father, for whatever reason he wanted his son to sign somewhere else. It isn't a great situation for anyone at this point, there will be some discomfort no matter where he signs.
