NO clue but there is some serious AU hate out there. Its comical. Anyone who thinks AU is a shitty job is completely delusional. AU is a top tier SEC football school with great facilities and deep pockets. Toss that article in the garbage.

moron?

I'll take it. I'll get fired after a couple of years but the hush money will be worth the early retirement.

Posted by RlTde2 Agree with this. I am sure Auburn will find a decent Coach..but do not think they will find a coach with the caliber of Saban or Les. Mike Gundy would be a good pick?

He should be, what 42 or 43 by now

Of course auburn isn't a shitty job. It's just that the current situation makes it highly unlikely that they'll be able to sign a big name coach that a program with auburn's historical success would enable. If you're someone like Charlie Strong or Kirby Smart, and your name has been mentioned quite a bit over the last two years and you've waited for the right situation......you're still waiting.

Auburn will find a good coach. Will they have to live in Saban's shadow? Probably. So what? They lived in the shadow of Bear and managed to put on some pretty good football.

Shoulda never let go of Tubs though...

No job, no matter the shite left behind, would look shitty with the tight amount of dollars hanging in front if it. AU is a dream job for a lot of coaches. They should get a good one.

But you know ole John L is filling out that application like a motherfricker right now

He has delivered the deathblow to the last two AU coaches.

Even if Chiz won that game, he would of been gone. He was pretty much done after the UGA game, I want to say the ATM game but Ill say UGA did him in.

If you think that auburn is in the same situation today that they were in when they hired Tommy Tuberville, you are hopeless.

I didn't say auburn won't be able to hire a decent coach. I said HIGHLY UNLIKELY that they could hire a coach at the level that their success would normally predicate. To argue against that point is just swimming in J.Lee/P.Marshall level delusion.

Agreed. Look at that shite show Nutter left behind. Freeze had them playing like they gave a shite half a year later. And AU has all 4 and 5* talent. It may take a year to cull the thugs that Trooper and Luper loved so much but they will get it done. Bring Croom in in a non coaching position and let him run the riff-raff out.

You fricking dumb. It is never a good situation when you fire your coach especially after a terrible season. Tell me when is that ever good? AU will get a good coach, regardless. Way to bring in Pmarsh level of delusional though. Explain to me why AU cant get the coach, you never made an arguement.

I love how you people credit Saban for this.

Has nothing to do with the fact Tuberville went 5-7, didn't recruit very well and the fact Chizik didn't win a single SEC game?

Auburn will do fine with a good coach. They just won a national championship two years ago for gods sake.

I realize that I have an extreme anti-Auburn bias, but in all candor I think Auburn is going to realize at the end of all this that getting rid of Gene Chizik was not necessarily the solution they were looking for. Nobody in their right mind would take this job right now, and they could end up with another "experiment" before it's all over.

I think Auburn should throw a lot of money at a big name. Firing Gene isn't the solution but it is the first step. He made Larry Coker look like The Bear.

Has it been posted yet that this is not "CBS reporting" but rather the resident shock jock of CBS?

I never paid it any attention and went straight for the "half the coaches out there would be crazy for NOT trying it". I would also like to submit my application. You have an address?

Every job looks shitty after a coach has been fired.

Bama looked like stomped shite when Saban took over.

Hell, they looked like stomped shite after Saban's first year, too.

Truth. And to the dumbass gumps...

Pretty much the same things were being said about the bama job before saban took it: terrible job, dysfunctional job, no one in their right mind would take it, etc. Hell Curry or Perkins went on espn and said it was a bad job to take no matter the money. Then Rich Rod said no thanks, don't want, along with several other coaches.

I guess we should all just pack up our stuff and go home. Saban is here now and he's just going to win everything.

What a pussy. If you don't want to compete with the best, maybe you should move to the ACC.

It was noted in the other 3 thread started about this yesterday. 2/3 by gumps of course.

Also, it's an opinion column. Doyle isn't "reporting" anything.
