There's no telling how this virus-infected season is going to play out, but with the Big Ten and Pac-12 on the sidelines, expect a big push from sportswriters like Dodd for the top G5 team to be included in the CFP.

It could happen. I fully expect the 2nd best SEC team to have two losses. Would viewers really want a Bama/Florida match up for a second time, or worse, a Bama/Georgia for a third?

Cincinnati’s roughest game is @ COVID #21 UCF. That dork thinks an undefeated Cincinnati would get in over a 2 loss or even 3 loss SEC team that will have played upwards of SEVEN teams ranked ahead of UCF and beaten five to six teams ranked higher than them?

It is not totally out of the question that a G5 team gets in this year. All it would take would be a 2-3 loss Big 12 Champ or the second place team from the SEC having 2-3 losses.
Now of course said G5 team would get absolutely smashed by Bama or Clemson, but I could totally see one of them sneaking in if they run the table. The AAC will never have a better chance to get a team in than this year.

The top G5 team really needs to be undefeated to have a shot. Between the ACC, Big 12 and SEC, there will likely be at least one non-conference champ that will make for an attractive fourth team for the CFP.
