I've been away awhile and I was curious to hear from any Bammers if there's been any progress in the football team's secondary this off season. It's the weak link on an otherwise outstanding team, IMO.

Thanks in advance!

Because I was mean to the state of Alabama is my best guess.

Thanks for moving my thread!

Your concern is appreciated but shouldn't you be more concerned about Arky winning a conference game than the secondary of the team that didn't lose a conference game?

Saban's blitz packages means that Bama plays a lot of man coverage. A perfect pass beats man coverage almost every time. It is a gamble. Saban is betting that your qb can't make enough perfect throws to beat his db's. So every time Bama runs across a good qb, people come away saying the secondary is suspect. Then they are surprised when Bama db's get drafted every year. The fact is if you play a lot of man coverage, your guy will get beat by a perfect pass more often than not. Sometimes you will run across a qb and wr combo that is a mismatch for the db trying to cover him. Now in these cases you need the offense to step up and score with the opponent. Usually happens but not always. Hence Saban only has one undefeated season because it usually happens once per year.

I'll never understand why other coaches don't do this too. Saban knows that def secondary play is very hard to get perfect at the college level. So he doesn't have his CB's and Safeties play "perfect", just technically very sound.

Our secondary sucks.

We will hold Arky to <6.

What are your questions?

The weak link is this. We have one inside linebacker who can play. And are counting on some first year players on the DL. We have several DB's who can win at that level of CFB and that is a strength at this point.

Thanks for that. That is exactly what I should've said in my description. As to why other coaches don't do it. You have to have the athletes to do it. Traditionally LSU, Auburn, and UF have the athletes to pull it off. UGA does now after their recent recruiting classes. But not too many do.

"We" ? You can't float from AU to UGA to UA "reddog", aka "1945" aka "texaspete". AU might be the only program you have any influence in anymore, but I doubt it. Pathetic shite.

I dunno. You're doing a damn good job of it. Fantasizing a Bama fan is a Georgia fan? Or even crazier and AU fan? I call 'em like I see 'em. My truth may be different from yours but at least it is the truth which you appear alien to you. So be it. BTW I have damn little influence in my own household. Much less a freaking CFB program. LOL! So there you have one less thing to worry about, my influence over your passion.
