They wouldn't have won it with the starter so I'll say no with the backup.

Ask yourself this. How many other team in SEC can
win with their backup QB. Teams that have been
in the sec for years and know what it takes to win. I can tell you right now
Bama could not compete for a title with Sims starting though we would be competitive against most.

I understand. The chances are against us.

However, our freshman QB came into the Georgia game in an incredibly high pressure situation and did not panic, instead leading Mizzou to 13 more points while Mizzou's D held Murray to zero.

Most backup QBs would've panicked in Athens, GA if they had to go into the game up only 2 against Georgia.

He didn't. He got the ball to the playmakers and we executed to put the game away.

The momentum favored Georgia after Franklin's offense failed to score in the 3rd Q.

Our backup didn't fail...and it was on a huge stage. The odds were extremely stacked against Mauk yet he did his job.

I still think Mizzou's one of the better teams in the SEC and I love the fact that once again people are overlooking Mizzou due to Franklin's injury.

Advantage Mizzou.

They have a chance, albeit a less than .1% chance

beat SoCar without starter and let's see. You have to play florida too ya know? I know Florida is a lesser Va Tech this year, but...it is what it is.

If Mauk is competent, Missouri's got a chance this week and next if there's no letdown elsewhere.

On the South Carolina game... Other than last week's blowout of Arkansas, they've been playing tight games against a schedule at least as weak as the one Missouri's getting b-slapped over. Plus, it will be their 3rd consecutive road game. Not sure about college, but in the pros the winning percentage in that 3rd game goes way down.

So, back to the OP... Given that Mauk is a RSF, I doubt it. But the opportunity and schedule fit are there.

Fair points. USC fans aren't sure if the lights came on for a young defense against Arkansas, or if Arky was just that bad in that particular game, or if it was a combination of both. I will say this, however: the UCF W was a quality win. UCF is a solid team, with plenty of talent.

As a Carolina fan, I'm extremely concerned about the Mizzou game, as they have the kind of offense that gives Carolina fits.

We'll know more about what kind of team USC really is when they get back from Knoxville Saturday night. If it's another multi-score blowout, I like USC's chances in CoMo. If it's a squeaker like what UGA endured, I don't like them at all.

Mizzou wouldn't win the SEC East with Franklin. Mizzou is bound to lose games sooner or later.

oh yes, I definitely think they have a chance even with Franklin out.

I have bookmarked diddy for those that say you have nothing positive to say about Mizzou.

Not quite. We have already played 4 conference games. You have only played 2. Granted you have won them both, you have a long road ahead of you in conference.

SC
UNC
UGA
VANDY
UCF (gonna beat LOU tonight)
UK
ARK

MIZ
Murray St
Toledo
Indiana
Ark St
Vandy
UGA

Not saying that either schedule is too crazy, but to say that our schedule is "at least as weak", implying you think it is weaker is false.

Not to mention that when he came into the Georgia game in the 4th Q after Franklin injured his shoulder, he led the team to 13 straight points (our dumbass shitty kicker is the reason it's not 14) after a scoreless 3rd Q where Franklin couldn't execute for some reason.

Im begining to wonder if you actually watch the games you talk about. Your backup QB only threw 3 passes for 23 yards. One of the TD's was because we fumbled on our end of the field and the other was thrown by another Mizzou player, not the QB.
