And don't forget folks there is PLENTY of bammer influence at ESPN. Rece Davis, Ivan Maisel, Mike Gottfried, are HUGE bammers I can think of just off the top of my head. It seems to me like this is something they've been holding in the bag for a while that they couldn't wait to spring on us. If this has been a "story" since July, what was the catalyst for putting it out there now? *crickets* The funny thing is that Pat Forde, Chris Low, and Mark Schlabach all contributed to that article. Does that seem strange to anyone else? ANYONE, and I mean ANYONE, who can defend ESPN after this, is quite simply not an Auburn fan. PERIOD.

I like how bama is getting blamed for something that MSU is probably more responsible for

Do the MSU fans find this interesting? Want a little more credit?

So how exactly are they going to be able to trace this to Auburn if it was a church donation? What if a wealthy booster just so happened to go to one of Cecil's churches?

And there you have it.

The NCAA's only chance is to get someone to squeal or spill the beans. They will apply massive heat to anyone who might know something.

And the only reason ESPN broke the story today was because they had enough sources to feel confident in doing so. They knew this story would have legs and they wanted to make sure they were as confident as possible in the allegations before they broke it.

If Auburn and Cecil Newton are smart (and innocent), they'll go on offense and release as possible to the media.

I think the innocent word looms large

If his Dad's church suddenly went from destitute to having a couple hundred thousand dollars to play with - that's a lot of circumstantial evidence

Especially when you're bishop of 5 (count em!) churches!

Yeah and one just so happens to be on the verge of being condemned. The preacher says they have no money, and the next thing you know the church gets renovated and now meets building code. I'm a Christian and don't want to cast a bad light on a preacher, but this all seems too coincidental.

Bank notes from the church that people in Operation Maroon Dog say Auburn donated $200K too were submitted to the NCAA a while back. If there is misinformation there it will be quick to come out. I doubt it, however.

Seems like most of this is coming from Kenny Rogers and his role. Shady agent bidness and whatnot. Don't know what we're dealing with there, Cecil says anything that guy did was without the consent of the Newton family. About what you'd expect him to say.

I'll wait for the investigation to turn up anything before I freak out.

Can you spell more of this out please?

When you say "Auburn donated" what do you mean? Who supposedly gave large chunks of money to the church in question?

And what IYO is the role of Kenny Rogers in this?

A bammer friend told me a big story was coming. An old saying
says to "follow the money and you will find the truth". Well, when it comes to ugly rumors about Auburn .......you just look for and follow the bammer connection. Do you really think they were going to sit still and let Auburn grab all their headlines? Wasn't the mighty Tide picked to be #1 before the start of the season? Just like the mafia or a thugish street gang, they will go to any means if anything threatens their territory. Well, was Auburn a threat?

Of course the average slack-jawed bammer fan is oblivios to all of this..... but I have heard stories recently of the antics of the Red Elephant Club (REC) which makes me want to ignore all of college football because they try to stack the deck so against all SEC schools (not just Auburn).

I do not think there is Auburn "wrong-doing" in the recruitment of Cam. The facts of the story could have been reported in September just as easily as November.

So, who benefits the most from the story being reported today?
Where did the three reporters get their information?
Who are their sources?

Again, when it comes to ugly rumors about Auburn .......you just look for the bammer connection and you will find your answers.
