Hugh Freeze, among being a POS, most definitely payed players. Paying players is also legal now, and Hugh Freeze was coaching Lambuth College when Auburn signed Cam Newton. So what exactly does him coaching at Auburn in 2023 have to do with Cam Newton choosing almost 14 years ago that he'd play for a real football program than the welfare funded pee wee team that State was putting on the field back then?
The only thing that seems to be hitting home here is the penis envy that fans of Mississippi based teams have for Auburn. Just bc a generational talent would never sink so low as to play ball in your home state, doesn't mean that great players haven't chosen to go to other schools for the right reasons, or simply bc that's where they want to be. Cam never even knew about the money State offered Cecil in the first place, so it's really a moot point to begin with to claim that State's illegal offer had any sway on his decision
