Quit trying to pretend Auburn is some kind of elite institution of higher learning.

I have no dog in this fight, but Auburn is held in much higher regard academically than Alabama from a national point of view. No offense intended.

The only problem with all of this is 1). I'm not an Auburn fan.

And if you've been to the Auburn campus once, that's more than I ever have.

Would you like to go for double jeopardy where the scores can really change?

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess you also haven't read the RESPONSES to your thread, huh?

As someone who lives outside the southeast, I can assure you that not only is that narrative not true - most people barely know Auburn exists - and when they do, it is entirely due to athletics.

Except Veterinary Clinics. In those spaces I admit, Auburn is held in much higher regard.

Being an "Auburn fan" doesn't make you exempt from this stupid joke.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I actually DO live outside of the SE and I can tell you the reverse is true.

Buddy, you mistook what I said. I wasn't accusing you of being triggered. I was preemptively accusing tRant lunch crowd who inevitably jump at the bit to troll WTR...

Don't know what to tell you then. The tech sector literally couldn't give two shits if you have a degree from Alabama or Auburn.

My bad. In the future I will not presume that you are capable of deductive reasoning.

Wow. You seem really Gummpy this AM. Normally this level of humorlessness is reserved for LSU fans.

So for your reasoning, you focus on one specific sector of the economy and base your agreement on that? Well, some of us deal with a wider range of people that the "tech sector" and for those that do, I would personally say, from the people that I interact with their opinion is that Bama is know primally for athletics and Auburn is (albeit mildly) more prestigious academically.

I know the hiring practices for the sector I work in. My career choice of managing technology departments doesn't exactly lend me to the perception of people graduating from institutions in other fields, like Business, Marketing, or Animal Husbandry.

I know about Veterinarians because of where I bring my own pets (and, admittedly, am actually comforted when I see an Auburn degree on the wall) as well as a good friend being an animal surgeon who graduated from Auburn.

All I can say is that no great preference, in any HR department I've conversed with, was there any great relevance placed on a degree from Auburn over one from Alabama. One of those over a diploma mill, absolutely; but honestly no one has ever cared.

And if this is the case, would you say that you are really in a position to make this assertion:

particularly in light of the fact that you're a fan of one of the two rival institutions?

Contrast this to someone who 1) (also) lives outside of the SE; 2) interacts with people in many different fields and industries. (and often uses college football/athletics to break the ice when talking to new people) 3). Didn't attend either of the two intuitions in question.

Who's going to give the unbiased answer?

I added (albeit mildly) to help clarify my position.

But I'll give you, it was a bit of a run on sentence...
