This is still one of the single oddest claims that you repeatedly make.

People used to laugh at Bammers for still being loud and obnoxious and cocky even though we sucked - you are arguing the exact opposite, that we somehow became meek and lowly and hid in the shadows.

I guess we just remember very different eras. I used to wish most of the bammer portion of our fanbase would behave exactly the way you seem to remember it instead of running around buying every "GOT ______" tshirt and claiming the next Mike was going to return us to glory.

This is the SEC, you’re an Auburn fan. If you were annually as fanatical about basketball as you are football you’d be HoopsJackson

That would be stupid and wouldn't even make sense

So I guess you don't actually watch sports, right? You just look at the stats? If you actually liked watching sports your username would be watch19, right?

Face it, you're jealous of Auburn basketball. I laugh at your attempt to troll

I mean we are talking about bama fans, a majority of their fan base have favorite basketball teams other than bama. Pretty sad.

I have told this story 100 times.

Once more.

I grew up in Florida. We would go up to Birmingham twice a year for family get-togethers. When I was young, it was the bear years. I would see thousands upon thousands of bama things on back windshields/car tags. It seemed 12 out of every 15 vehicles had something bama on it. When I reached adulthood, I didn't go up as much. My Grandma passed away in '92. I had not been to B'ham in seven or eight years. I went up for the funeral. I would drive miles and not see anything bama on a vehicle.

Face it.........your fanbase is as fair weather as they come. I have seen it in the area of Florida where I live. Fifteen years ago there was a smattering of bama stuff.......now it's everywhere.

Alright, here is where I can meet you halfway........

The out of state Bammer contingency is ONE HUNDRED PERCENT a fairwhether bunch of bandwagon jumpers. It's like any big name successful team/program. That's most definitely true and I agree with you.

The in-state Bammers are even more loud and more obnoxious when we suck. People in the state of Alabama grow up one way or another talking shite to the same people for 50 years. Almost none of those people are putting away flags and quitting rooting for Alabama or Auburn beacuse things suck. Our fanbase definitely ballooned over the last decade in Texas/Florida/Georgia, but nothing changed in Alabama.

I was dating a bammer in 2005 and we attended the southern miss game. I told her that the bama fan base had given up. If it wasn’t for prothro having that amazing catch then bama loses that game. The stadium was terribly quiet besides that one catch.

That is a possibility........but they damn sure aren't flying their colors like when things are going well with the program. That is my point......they may still be bama fans, but they apparently don't want other people knowing it.

We were playing terrible against Southern Miss - hell yea it was quiet (at a place not known for being boisterous as it was). I don't remember that catch because I had many spirits that day and have zero memories of that game.

Anyway, that season people were actually pretty excited - we thought we had a good defense and maybe Brodie wouldn't break (he didn't).

2 weeks later the Florida game was the single loudest crowd I've ever heard at BDS and the Tennessee games a few weeks after that in the mix for the 2nd loudest.

Yes, that's me.

I was 8 I saw Chris Porter and that 99 team play and I was hooked. Basketball had already been my favorite sport to play well before that. I was 11 years old when I watched Marquis Daniels nearly lead Auburn to an upset of eventual National Champion Syracuse and Carmelo Anthony in 2003.

I then suffered watching every miserable season for over half my life until we finally made it back to the NCAAT last season when I was 26.

I mean we built a 90 million dollar stadium in 2007, if the fan base has given up that’s not happening. Coleman will still be standing there the next 10 years, but but muh renovations.

Y'all were pretty damn quiet from my recollection.

Like the seething with anger, potential workplace shooter type of quiet.

Hey now, I didn't say there aren't individuals who haven't been longsuffering. I know there are. But there aren't a whole helluva lot of you (same with us).

I mean it doesn't matter, who gives a fvck. I just want the arena to be filled and loud, I don't need everyone else around me to have sat through the last years of the Gottfried era or the 13-18 Grant season.
