The truth of the matter, whether Bama fans want to admit it or not, is that the perception of Bama fans are defined by these two clowns, Brian the teabagger, and Harry the tree killer. I was really suprised at how Bama fans treated Updike like a hero on Bourbon St. getting autographs and taking pictures with him. Crazy cult that the Gumps have.

child28, now will the Bama fans distance themselves from these type of fans or will they continue to embrace and defend these individuals?

I don't know a single UA fan who has "embraced" these two.

Updike was signing autographs and Bama fans were getting their pics taken with him on Bourbon St. before the game. Someone also donated a BCS ticket to him. I think that is called embracing. He is a hero to the cult section of your fanbase.

I don't know any either. I have said all along that I don't believe in lumping entire fan bases in with the actions of a few vocal minority, but since you have asked this now quite a few times, how have LSU fans adjusted to all of the negative publicity that followed their program this past year?

Our fans haven't exactly been arrested for killing trees and teabagging. It has been a few players in bad situations and/or bad decisions just like Bama has had several players arrested. We are talking about the cult like fans you have that will go to any means to prove something, I don't know what.

Well, your coach plays people convicted of sexual battery, charged with battery this year and suspended for 5 games, and you have had many suspensions for off the field issues. I think it's naive to think that doesn't give LSU a questionable reputation, going by your standards, and if you are going to saddle a fan base with generalizations, I just asked what you do when people do the same to yours? What's that like?

Had it been just him doing this on a corner to an unconscious person, then I would consider it an isolated case. BUT...it was in a public eatery filled with Bama fans cheering him on...not one person tried to stop it, but they sure posed to take pictures...not to mention that the Mobile Sports Director's son was about to unzip until his gf stopped him...but even she was about to raise her jersey and rub on the guy too. This wasn't just one person doing the damage...blame your fans, not us....

If you think the Bama fan base hasn't taken a hard hit, I suggest that you go to other school's message boards and see what people have posted...people across the country have seen the video...oh, and they haven't forgotten Ole Harvey, either...

I haven't mentioned your players nor did I mine. I was talking about the perception of your fan base after the two recent incidents. This has nothing to do with Saban or Miles or any of the players on either team, but has to do with fans going overboard. Your fanbase has a perception of being cult like and will do anything to prove their alleged fanhood. I know that the majority of fans of both schools are great people. Bama just seems to have a small cult like segmant that will do anything. We have our rantards, you have your cult.

Focus on the fan base. True Bama fans need to make a strong statement and turn their backs on the Updikes/Downeys of your world so we don't see further instances and crimes commited by your fan base.

Is he still on the team? Was he suspended by Saban? I'm not the one here making generalizations about the team. I was just asking, since people could make conclusions about LSU, given the criteria, what it was like... This isn't a question of which team does more, it's a question of what it's like to deal with generalizations unfairly put on the majority of people.

Bellabama, we are talking about fanbases here, not either team. Why is that so hard for you to figure out? I could easily blast your team arrest record, but neither team is innocent there.

Did you even read my post about the burger joint filled with Bama fans cheering him on? THAT was as disturbing as the act itself. Good God.

He has focused on both teams and players. How the bama fans acted have nothing to do with Bama coaches and players.

So you are telling me that a team's actions or what a coach represents, and how a fan base responds doesn't reflect upon the team? What about the reputation of LSU fans throwing piss bombs and tiger baiting? Repeatedly, LSU fans are viewed nationally as a negative and rowdy group of people.

You can't pick and choose what gives schools negative associations. You might as well come to terms with the fact that there are a lot of good fans at all of the schools, and that as individuals, we can't control what a select few do, or how others choose to celebrate it.

Tigerbaiting happens all the time, the person tigerbaited is usually invited to join the party and eat great food. The piss bombs are much like the big foot stories and the boogie man. I have been going to Death Valley for years with my wife, whom is a Bama fan, and she has been Tigerbaited and fed. We have never seen a piss bomb thrown at any game.

I am talking about the perception of your fan base because of these two idiots. I didn't pick these two incidents, Updike and Downey did. I know the majority of your fans are good people, delusional, but good people. Just like the majority of our fan base are good people, even our rantards, but good people.
