LSU 5-1, top ten team, can actually lose another game and still make the playoffs.

And they want Kelly gone. Be careful what you wish for.

This is no longer true, fwiw

Since Kelly joined, Sark and Lane have better winning percentages

Kiffin at Ole Miss .735

Kelly at LSU .739

Sark at Texas .689

Also, I think he's definitely a good coach but their schedule has made him probably look a little better than he really is.

That win against Oregon squashed that. If DeBoer left suddenly I’d love Cignetti at Bama

You can't hire a guy based on one win.

I agree with this.
There is a risk if he leaves we hire someone and fall into mediocrity.

For all BKs faults he fixed the death spiral we were in, and that could happen again with a bad hire if he left.

Okay, why is that relevant?

You’re not it’s his body of work. He’s been there two years and he has a playoff appearance. Kelly has been at LSU for 4 and no playoff appearances with help from NIL and transfer portal.

But that's Brian Kelly. If you want 9-12 wins and no championships, he's a sure bet. Dude's collecting social security soon and still doesn't have a P4 championship.

LSU hope will last a bit longer but right now he's living up to his expectation

Why is the same time period - the most recent 4 years - relevant? Think about it a bit.

Cignetti had 2 wins over teams with winning records in his first season.

They were 8-5 Michigan and 7-6 Nebraska.

His schedule has helped him a lot, and he's also a good coach. Both can be true.

I'm comparing each coach's entire body of work.

You're comparing Kelly's entire LSU tenure to Sark's year 2,3, and 4. Why does Sark get a free year?

Why does Kiffin get 2 free years?

The biggest wins of his entire career were regular season OT games against Alabama and Clemson. Am I missing any?

Because it's the same time period in the same conference. Kelly is not #2, he's behind those guys, and you're lying to yourself comparing different situations.

exactly and everythings changed these days. There's just not gonna be a dynasty anymore with NIL. Not gonna happen.

So let's keep the guys that keep us in the playoff conversation and roll with it.

I mean what other sure fire coaches are out there??? Nick and Urban aren't coming back to coach.

I'm just comparing each guy's entire tenure.

And I'm just comparing the same time contemporary time period.

Kelly's getting lapped. If you're ok with that, good by me, we're dumping our failed experiment. But if "#2 if you don't count the guys who retired and count their COVID seasons" and then by end of year "ok but still #3!" works for you it works for me

If you take off years 1 and 2 for Kiffin, and year 1 for Sark, and keep all of Kelly's years, then yes, the other guys won more games.

Since Kelly joined the league, yeah he's #4.

Look, please sign him to a ten year extension. He's the guy, #2 in the conference if you make a bunch of caveats and look back before he joined. All the best.
