Well they WERE in the SEC...Dodd decided to go independent thinking they'd be the Notre Dame of the south.

Hell no. They offer nothing.

Is Tennessee so desperate for wins you're just shopping around for new teams you can beat?

Bobby Dodd never lost a game on three years as Tennessees starting quarterback. What am American Hero.

He deserves the Presidential medal of freedom.

Georgia is the second most populous state in SEC country.

And GT is the best college football program in that state. We need them.

And because they didn't want to share money with the SEC. Thought they could do better on their own.

So, y'know, frick 'em.

Hell I wouldn't mind it. One more trip to Atlanta wouldn't hurt.

Dodd got GT out of the SEC because he thought the 140 recruiting rule that allowed Bryant and others to stack their teams was terribly unfair to the recruits themselves.

Plus he was disgusted by the dirty play that had been brought into the SEC.

Bobby Dodd was a great man and treated his recruits very well.

From what I understand Tech's coach got major sand in his vagina over a feud with Bryant, do the point where he quit the conference.

Then a few years later they tried to come back and the SEC was like LOL NO.
