Do you agree with Stephen and Sidewalk that this is ultimately the Brooks family’s fault?

More dishonesty from you.

I never said this was the family's fault, I doubt it's anyone's "fault". Just a tragic situation.

What you are posting are allegations from a lawsuit which have not been proven. Only one side of the story is being told right now, and that is what is being reported by the media

The timeline of Brooks initial symptoms until his ultimate diagnosis is well documented. I think all of that is well established, documented and neither side refutes it.

If the timeline is different that changes things, but it doesn’t seem there is any question that he first exhibited symptoms in August and wasn’t diagnosed as having a tumor until over 5 weeks later in September.

My issue with this whole thing is how he was misdiagnosed and allowed to play for 5 weeks when a simple MRI would have immediately identified the problem.

Just for reference, I googled “football player brain tumor”. The vast majority of results were about Brooks. But I found three stories of high school players being diagnosed with a brain tumor. The time from first symptoms until getting an MRI were all less than the Brooks case. One kid had an MRI within days of showing symptoms, the same day he saw a neurologist, one had an MRI in a couple weeks as soon as he was referred to a neurologist, and one in a month because he had been trying to hide his symptoms because he wanted to play. But even in that case it said he had an MRI confirming the tumor within a month of his first symptoms.

That is my issue here; the urgency diagnosing Brooks. And the fact that they misdiagnosed him for 5 weeks, allowing him to play the whole time. Not the “he didn’t call”, not the surgery, just the fact it took Greg Brooks over a month before LSU’s medical staff got him an MRI. All while random high school players were getting more urgent treatment and faster MRIs. All while other LSU players were getting MRIs for orthopedic issues in days.

That doesn’t seem right. SEC athletes should have access to world class medical care, better than most anyone here and better than most any high school athletes. Yet somehow for 39 days a SEC medical staff completely failed to diagnose a brain tumor.

I would be shicked if it happened at any SEC school. It happened that it occurred at a school that has posters like LSUStephen/Hold da Mayo, SidewalkTiger, wadewilson, williamtaylor, and several other attack dogs who jump on anyone who says anything negative about LSU. And that is when the fight always starts.

Call it what you want but you said this.

I find it unfortunate that the family chose to trash and alienate a large group of people who, by all accounts, were attempting to help them through an unfortunate circumstance.

I mean I get that but it's unfortunate that they chose to trash a large community of people who were trying to help

It sure seems you are blaming them for all the hate and threats being directed their way from LSU fans. It seems you are saying they brought it on themselves.

quote:

Nope, as I said (yesterday?), I completely understand why they're throwing everything that they can against the wall to see what sticks. Greg will need expensive medical care for the rest of his life.

Yep, they brought it on themselves with their lies and money grab.

Yep, I would say you are victim shaming 100%.

At least you aren’t blaming Michal Strahan like some of your fellow Tigers.

The amount of times you’ve used words like “seems” and “feels” is fricking hilarious.

The other viewpoint has been explained to you multiple times. Every point you’ve tried to make has been refuted. You choose to believe one side of the story. That’s fine. Everyone here knows your posting history so that’s no shocker.

If LSU or Kelly did something truly wrong I hope they get fully punished.

That is one angry cajun. And some say LSU fans aren’t overly emotional.

In the cases here, were these kids relying solely on their school to assume responsibility for their medical care or did they seek out their own specialists, etc?

I would guess you are shaking right now.

All for calling you one of the forums attack dogs. Which caused you to launch into attack dog mode.

What "seems" to be, to you, isn't always reality.

You seem to misinterpret most situations and statements, either out of willful ignorance or simple dishonesty.

And you are blaming the family for all the hate they are receiving.

Hey, I saw a lawyer on TV that is not affiliated with this case or anyone involved saying he thinks that LSU will settle this case out of court for 8 figures. Would you rather have them settle for $10-20 million? Or would you rather they roll the dice with a jury trial?

Nope, I just said it was unfortunate that they chose to take this route.

I also said I understand the why.

Possibly.

LSU is in a lose-lose circumstance. Even if they did everything correctly, they will still be viewed as attacking a kid who is handicapped for life.

You're a perfect example of this, the kid received free medical care, his illness was diagnosed much quicker than it would have been otherwise, LSU raised a ton of money for him.

His situation is undoubtedly better, because he was an LSU football player, than it would've been if he were just a normal person.

But folks like you disregard all of that and only want to blame LSU for....reasons?

There was never any doubt you were going to take the passive aggressive route to blame them.

Passive aggressive victim blaming. So on brand for you.

Never correctly diagnosing Greg Brooks. LSU’s medical staff never correctly diagnosed Greg Brooks as having a brain tumor. They misdiagnosed him the whole time.

Who’s fault is it that the LSU medical staff misdiagnosed and mistreated a life threatening brain tumor for over a month? There is only one correct answer, the answer is the LSU medical staff.

And there was never any doubt that you'd be be here celebrating a tragedy happening to an LSU player.

That always brings a select group of trashbags out of their can.

No doubt, he was misdiagnosed.

Folks with symptoms like nausea, headaches, and the like, often receive a plethora of diagnosis.

Despite that, his timeline still progressed faster than most.
