do you take in order of first to last, if you had to take from that pool, as your head coach. Rollbamaroll had a poll asking to rank the best post-Bryant coach, not named Saban or Stallings. It was quite a difficult thing to do. Worst was easy, as it had Dubose listed too, but curious to see who folks here would choose as the best of those 4.

Didn't list him, as he never signed a contract, or even coached them on the practice field.

Ray Perkins was a pretty damn good football coach.

easy, curry. poor coach but he recruited two different national championship teams. he would set the next coach up pretty sweet.

What a horrible question. You are one sadistic bastard.

If Fran had stayed for the 3rd and 4th year he probably would've won a SEC championship. His recruiting was pretty weak though and we weren't that stout on defense.
If Curry didn't have to play in the shitstorm that was the trip to Jordan-Hare in '89 we would've probably been unbeaten heading to the Sugar Bowl. Whenever we talk about Curry though, I need to point out my dislike for the man. So there we go.
Perkins had a losing record two years after taking over perhaps the greatest dynasty in SEC history. I realize the situation was tough and things had fallen off since 1979 but to lose 6 games that year is pretty crappy. Rodney Orr who knows a little bit about Alabama football claims that the '86 team was one of the most talented in school history.
Shula was 1-11 versus LSU, UT, and AU. Do we need to say anything else? They didn't work hard. There was no disciipline. They had several of embarrassing losses. They didn't recruit. I could go on, but I digress.

No. Bama was not beating LSU in 03 or Auburn in 04.
2005 is a different story though.

Yeah. Y'all did so well the year before against him.

Auburn in 04.
It should also be noted that 2003 was the year that Tubby was fired until beating a 4 win Bama team and the outrage of the Colonial Bank plane. Good chance 2004 doesn't happen if Bama beat AU in 2003.
Ifs and butts I know.

I agree, but they did crap the bed against Florida and almost lost to UGA at home. It's not out of the realm to think a trip to Tuscaloosa would've been tough.

Is Curry still the only Bama head coach to have a brick tossed through his window?

So you think just swapping Shula for Dennis effing Franchione would have been enough to overcome NICK frickING SABAN? GTFO.
