draft projection will be all that matters. I doubt he leaves early to warm the bench on an NFL team. He likes the celebrity of it all.

I think JFF has been huge for recruiting but it was looking really good anyway with Sumlin running the Air Raid, at least on the offensive side of the ball. The impressive thing to me is how many top notch defensive players A&M has gotten, they have cleaned up in Texas on that side of the ball and picked up some nice talent from Louisiana.

The main thing though is it is pointless to speculate at this point. He is just a very unique situation in so many ways. Incredible talent but not a prototype NFL QB. Smart kid with money but also loves to have fun (can you imagine how BSC he is going to get once he can LEGALLY drink?) Hyper competitive so that may make him want to win multiple NC's and Heisman's or it may make him want to prove to everyone he can translate to the NFL.

As I said, I think the best thing for Aggies and people that just like watching him play is simply to enjoy it while it lasts. Maybe he stays, maybe he goes but he is something special. UGA had Herschel. Auburn had Bo and Cam. LSU had Honey Badger. He's certainly in that conversation at A&M.

This. Unless he's projected to be a top 10 pick, I don't think Manziel is going to be in a hurry to declare, especially if he looks like a late first rounder that would go to a team with an established QB, and then have to carry a clipboard for years. If he goes, he wants to be an early round pick for a team desparate for a QB.

If he gets bored playing football after two years, he could always tell Sumlin he wants to go play baseball in the Spring and try to increase his leverage for signing that way--if he's as good a baseball prospect as folks say.

The college life is a lot easier than the NFL life and since he has money already it's also going to be hard to walk away from banging 3 co-ed's a night and being treated as a God on campus.

Going to class AND doing all the practices, workouts, film study, etc is easier than just doing the game stuff? How about no?

It won't be hard to walk away from banging 3 co-eds a night when he'll walk into banging just as many cheerleader and playboy types a night.

The god on campus thing is legit, but the enormous paychecks (needed or not) will ease the pain somewhat.

No way is college harder than the NFL life. In college everything is built around him and he is a coddled celebrity. He is a smart kid and has a gazillion tutors for school and the NCAA severely limits how much practice time he can put in.

Once he goes NFL he suddenly is a rookie with a target on his back. It's a business and he will be playing against much bigger, faster, and older players that play the game to support their families. Going out and being a party animal also will not be viewed favorably by NFL coaches and GM's until he has won big in the league. It's just a much more serious and difficult environment.

There are certainly pluses of money and having only to focus on football but if money isn't an issue and school is easy for you then it's a different conversation. Likely the only way Manziel becomes a Top 5 pick as well is if he has at least 2 more years of doing exactly what he has been doing and continues to show he can do more as a QB, esp quicker reads and better throwing mechanics. I could see a lot of NFL GM's saying "He's not going to have 7 or 8 seconds to order a pizza in the pocket in the NFL" and "he won't be able to outrun all those NFL DE's and LB's like he does in college".

I'm happy whatever he does, I'm just saying it's a unique situation in many ways.

Murray and who else?

Boyd (Clemson)

Applin (Arkansas State)

Showers (whoever picks him up after he goes the Russel Wilson route)

Shaw (South Carolina)

Miller (Ohio State)

Bridgewater (Louisville)

Price (Washington)

There are several others we haven't heard of yet.
