No other SEC teams in top 25 or top 30

Where are the trophies for the above?

Both programs have trophies.

Not sure your point

I was wondering if they gave trophies for winning percentage, that's all. They give trophies for everything these days. Mizzou gets one for the East title for Pete's sake.

I'm not debating that UK is head-and-shoulders above every other team in the SEC, but the same thing can be said of Alabama football in relation to the rest of the SEC.

But the other members of the Big 6 in football are at least relevant on a national scale, historically. Who else has any sustained success in basketball on a national scale? You can argue Arkansas and UF, but they haven't had the same sustained success as any Big 6 football...yet.

Hell, UF was barely Big 6 in football 15 years ago.

Kentucky obviously has had sustained success in basketball.

Arkansas some what has. Ranks among the top in the nation in NCAA tourney wins. Has been to Final Fours in 3 different decades. Elite Eights in 4 different decades. NCAA Appearances in 6 different decades.

Where was UF basketball 15 years ago? They were nobody until BD arrived, but I'd say two titles makes them relevant on a national scale.

Since when has the sec had 6 quality Basketball programs?

Exactly what I was wondering. We have 6 legit big name national powers in football. But when it comes to basketball we've got Kentucky and maybe Florida that could be considered as national powers, that's about it.

Randomways,
It seems you are arguing for a NATIONAL Big 6 (at least in basketball), while I am looking to define an SEC Big 6.

Which is why I said "sustained." You're actually kind of making my argument here. UF hasn't been great long enough to be considered sustained, especially since UF football is actually basically a newbie in the Big 6 with an extra decade to work with.

The SEC Big 6 in football presupposes a national relevance. That's part of the bragging rights -- a program that has greater prestige than just regional awareness.

It shows UK at 1, Bama at 32, Arky at 35, and UT at 40. No other SEC teams in top 50.

Not sure what you are looking at...

Randomways,
I guess I'm simply looking at the six best basketball programs in the SEC as the "Big 6," without requiring those six teams to be among the nation's elite.

Of the Football Big 6, Alabama is the only "nationally relevant" member this year. What does that mean for the other five?

LINK

Clicking on win percentage will put them in order.

Arkansas ranks low in total wins because Arkansas started its basketball program about 20 years after other programs.

More wins, better winning percentage, and a significant head-to-head advantage for Bama. Yep, historically better.
