Sumlin is a good coach and A&M being the only Tejas SEC team has HUGE recruiting potential. If they can get a defense they will be a contender for the long run.

Auburn traditionally recruits well and Malzahn knows what to do with the talent. Don't see them dropping off soon.

Freeze is doing an amazing job recruiting at Ole Miss. Can he sustain that is the question. Ole Miss usually doesn't bring in the quality of recruiting classes they have the last couple of years but if they keep it up they're going to stay tough.

Bielema will be OK in a few years when and if he can recruit players for his system. Getting the players for Bielema's style of offence is tougher than getting players that can run the spread. Arkansas is going to have to consistently get top 10 classes to make this work. Can they do it?

I don't see any of the above hires as just a quick fix -- all are solid hires. Just different philosophies of how to get there.

So the first half with Joeckel? Can I pick and choose a first half against an opponent for a brand new QB under Bret, and only use that to judge him? Seems a bit ridiculous don't ya think?

Like I said, I'm not saying A&M will be bad. Why would you need to pick and choose? We don't have a really good QB or a player of that caliber and I don't have to be convinced that we suck. But I'm thinking we have some good talent coming up.

BB was the quick fix.

ideally he would have been able to fix quicker. realistically with the talent that was left him, it will take longer to build

Man...I remember UT fans spending the better part of 3 years trying to convince themselves that Dooley wasn't a good hire. I'll just sit back and watch, but I'm pretty sure I already know how it turns out.

Malzahn says he doesn't consider AU a spread team after A&M:

Why did it take that long to convince themselves? BTW...I thought Kiffin was a bad hire as well.

Damn...you look like Michael Jackson.

Freeze inherited what? The worst team Ole Miss had had in 20 years? It wasn't as if that team was full of kids he recruited either... it was filled with bad players. And Ole Miss sets a pretty low standard for bad.

you just praised him (freeze) for his recruiting in a post in this thread and presumably you meant recruiting class before he ever coached a down at ole miss or the comparison to him and bb make no sense.

so now you're turning it around and saying he didn't?

That really just says "we are okay with sucking for a while."

The truth is it's tough to start off too slow and recruit your way out of it. Momentum works both ways.

WE won't. We will beat Arkansas 8 of the next 10, if not the decade clean sweep.

I'm just trying to make the point it's one area. Arkansas hasn't really impressed me at all outside of that one RB, and coaches even left with minimal talent capable, muster up something.

No you don't... it's quite obvious to everyone.

We will see. I still think Bielema's downfall is not staffing up with Texas high school football relationships. That's a problem on the macroscopic scale. Individual players, remain to be seen. I know there is some defender we are trying to steal from your own backyard, and if we are successful, I'll pretty much have sealed the coffin on my opinion of Bielema.

as long as Sumlin is running his spread offense they won't have a strong defense. but that's what they get for selling their soul for the quick fix...
