Bert has never had a losing season
2006 Wisconsin 12–1
2007 Wisconsin 9–4
2008 Wisconsin 7–6

I'm not reading this whole thread to find out if this is Germans but, Fatty needs the same caliber of players to run his system that Bama, Georgia, LSU and South Carolina needs. Fatty, will not be able to out recruit Bama, LSU, or Georgia 99% of the time.
Therefore, hogs will be running a power run/play action system with second and third tier athletes.
Long term success?? Does not compute.......

Did you see how low ranked his recruiting classes were at Wisconsin?

Like I said, you can usually tell from day 1 which coaches are going to work out.
...but not always. Sometimes talent is a major factor, especially with the offensive/defensive line and quarterback positions. Petrino didn't have a good first year.

Let's see what Sumlin can do when Johnny leaves. That type of player being on the field tends to add an element of synergy to the team that's hard to measure. A&M has that chemistry when he's on the field. When he's not, I think about the first half of the game against Rice. I'm not saying A&M will be bad. I'm saying Johnny Football won't be around forever and I'm not quite yet sold on Sumlin.
So the first half with Joeckel? Can I pick and choose a first half against an opponent for a brand new QB under Bret, and only use that to judge him? Seems a bit ridiculous don't ya think?

OM and AU will struggle if their talent doesn't step up/pan out simply because the offenses won't be able to sustain themselves once the other teams adjust (see OM's struggles vs Bama and AU's string of mental mistakes vs LSU.)
This is kind of flawed logic, IMO. The thing is, Gus was in the SEC for three years. D coordinators have seen it before. Sure, there will be badly executed games. That happens with any style O, or D for that matter. The three years Gus was the OC, I saw three different O's. This year is the most run heavy O I have seen from him. He finds ways to best utilize the talent he has on the roster. He doesn't try to fit square pegs in round holes. That is what has impressed me most about Gus.

like judging a coach based on 8 games.

Sumlin is better. I could see myself wanting to play for Sumlin.
BB reminds me of a super fat soccer coach I had as a kid. That fatty would tell us to run and we would all point and laugh at him.

Gus doesn't need the same type of players as those do, so...... your point?

Neither will he beat them very often.

it is to you, of course.
i know you're a troll and i had thought you were a good one, now i see your m.o. is about quantity not quality. eta: now that i think about it, just like the state of texas, be bigger not better is the motto, right?

Barry alvarez left that program in great shape. Bielema took over a mess at Arkansas.

I don't troll. And secondly, 8 games is quite different than the first half for a brand new QB. After 8 games Manziel was only a few games away from winning the Heisman. After one half against Florida, did you think that?

do you think we have an experienced team full of bb's recruits? it really doesn't matter, the point was is that it's stupid to judge now.

It might not be fair to jump to a lot of conclusions, but after 8 games you should be able to see something, maybe not a lot, but something. Hugh Freeze inherited what? The worst team Ole Miss had had in 20 years? It wasn't as if that team was full of kids he recruited either... it was filled with bad players. And Ole Miss sets a pretty low standard for bad.

Remains to be seen. BB on the other hand, has already lost to Bama and South Carolina

It's funny because our guys aren't writing articles about what if we hired Beliema.
