Lol touche. That was more of an Austin comment, Dallas and Houston don't really have great nightlife tbh.

Dallas moreso than Houston, but really this is a pretty bland part of the country all around. I'm in northern DFW burbs now. I don't defend it as any less bland than OKC.

Hopefully I can make it back to somewhere with more outdoor lifestyle sometime soon. More temperate climate, more mountains, more water. The hot dusty plains and prairie land take a toll after so many years.

Have not been to OU but have been to DKR 3 times, twice against TT and once against Baylor. The atmosphere outside of DKR on game day is as good as it gets in my experience...the atmosphere inside the stadium is not great. The Big 12 fans are not as passionate during the game as SEC fans. I have been to several games in Lubbock and the atmosphere is about the same as it was in Austen....lots of talking about things other than football. Have also been to 2 TCU/Baylor games and again the crowd just ain't on par with a SEC crowd. The OU fans at the Rosebowl were great but they were more akin to TT fans than Auburn fans as far as being noisy...and that was a helluva game with a lot at stake. If anyone has been to a UGA game prior to about 2000 they will have an idea of what Big 12 stadiums are like, in my experience...lots of people, no where near the enthusiasm as you find in Starkevegas on a normal Saturday....

DKR is better but it’s also the quietest large stadium I’ve ever been to

Me too...but it never was a really big game other than Texas Tech considers UT a rival...I don't get the feeling that Texas considers the game a rivalry LOL.

Any Bama fan that’s says Texas is louder than OU hasnt been to many games at either stadium. If you’re taking about one game of course playing Bama it will be more juiced . Wait until you come to Norman…. It will make you rethink what you said I bet .

Half of DKR is bought out by corporations holding company outings, its pretty sterile. Very nice, but not the college experience as it feels more like an NFL game

There is a beer garden about a half a mile easy walk from DKR that is not to be missed, especially on game day, that's been there since 1866. Gotta get there early but as long as youre drinking beer and eating they don't care how long you stay on Gameday. My experience has been with TT and Baylor so it may not be possible to get in with Alabama or someone in town.

Also for anyone who hasn't been Austen and the surrounding area is a better long weekend than Nashville or New Orleans and it ain't, in my opinion, close. Food is better in New Orleans but the music is about the same as Austen and Austen ain't in New Orleans so it is heads and shoulders better. Nashville is currently, in my opinion, the best road trip in the SEC for 3 days but it ain't comparable to Austen and the surrounding area. The hill country is littered with dance halls with the best live music in the US, in my opinion (outside of New Orleans which requires being in New Orleans). It is the natural habitat of Texans so there is that but they ain't that bad....

Been to DKR several times.

Games were always a blast. Fans talked a lot of sh$& until they start losing. Then it gets even better. Plenty of middle fingers galore and sheep fu)$(@s comments passed out. Traffic and tailgate scene super sucks.

Only went to one OU game. Have friends from OU so it was in the OU section. Very nice and cordial throughout but interesting. They were arrogant but not rude about it if that make sense. Now at the cotton bowl they were a lot different. They were pretty much accepting the loss before the game but trying to act like they were confident. It’s going to be interesting how their fans transition to the SEC.

If you like Mexican food go to Habaneros in Austin. Pretty darn good.

That's a pretty accurate assessment.

Austin has always had a laid back culture, finding some cool clear water to beat the heat during the day, and some cold beer and good music in the evenings. Not a weekend thing, every night.

On a half dozen Saturdays in the fall, we went to football games. But we still did the same before and after stuff.

Our team has sucked for a while, and that dampens the enthusiasm. Couple that with mostly ho-hum games the past 10 years, and you get an indifferent crowd.

When Texas is winning, much different atmosphere. The Alabama game, in the midday heat, was very loud, too loud to talk to the person next to you. LSU, at night, was electric.

The over/under on crowd noise being louder/quieter than you expected... I'll take the louder.

OU is just a bland experience all the way around.

Was it the OU 77, Aggies 0 game that you attended?

DKR looks as if it needs a giant Kotex in that endzone.

Oklahoma Memorial Stadium has received two recent stages of upgrades; three, if including the east upper deck and suites of 2004. The south endzone used to be a free standing unit. It is now bowled in with suites across the top. Underway next is more space for players and coaches off the playing field. This expansion is a Thad Turnipseed project.

With donations and SEC cash, the next phase for the stadium will hopefully commence soon. Tear down the west side upper deck installed in the early 1970s and the press box. Construct two levels of decks over the west lower bowl stands and new press box and suites above the highest of the 2 decks. The new press box/suites will run from end zone to end zone.

After the bowling of the south end, repainting of bleachers to create wider "seats", vastly improved south and east side concessions and seating and the installation of the second largest video board in America, the stadium has taken on the name of The Palace On The Prairie.

AD Joe Castiglione is not interested in expanding the capacity to the 100,000 range which some fans want due to trend for declining attendance across the USA, TV game influence, keep ticket prices high.

Crowd noise is louder than most but not as loud as it can and should be. Gets real rowdy for big opponents or tight game in the 4th quarter.
