Peak would favor UA/LSU since they actually rematched in a title game and finished #1 and #2. I bet that would've happened in 96 until UT lost to Memphis. 
UF and UT finished #2 and #3 in 95 and only lost once.

I would say Bama vs LSU. More offense in the UT/UF, but more was at stake from a national championship perspective with UA/LSU. 4 nattys Between UA/LSU during their years vs 2 with UF/UT.

The closest game to this in terms of heart and physicality shown by both teams was Saints-Vikings NFC champ game.

National championships were different during the eras. UT-uf was what sustained the SEC during that time. The SEC is what it is today cause of it coming out of the sec cg creation. The later ua/lsu series was nothing like it.
This comparison isnt about #s as much as living and breathing those times. Being a hammered ut kid trying to escape the swamp in orange after the VOLS won. Separated from your ride home. Coming across other buddies at a red light trying to also get out of town. Banging on the back of the suv window to let you in. Rocky Top starts to get louder and louder, as the window comes down, from inside the vehicle. uf fans starting to throw shite at the vehicle as the light turns green and my foot still hanging out the back. Squealing tires as all from inside are singing Rocky Top from inside the vehicle drunk as dammit.
Calling the others you rode with so they could go on. Not worrying about my stuff cause errrbody packed their vehicles prior to the game knowing you couldnt spend the night in gville if the VOLS won.
