PP7. Trindon should be mentioned too (one of the most fun to watch.. not the best, at all)

He'd have had it and TD record if not for blind refs in that Miss St game. He ran one back, penalty was called on a clean return and brought back.

I remember this happening a few times.

Patrick Peterson 2010 punt returns:
26 attempt, 418 yards, 16.08 avg, 2 TD
Patrick Peterson 2010 kick returns:
32 attempt, 932 yards, 29.13 avg, 0 TD
quote:
Javy Arenas 2009 punt returns:
32 attempt, 493 yards, 15.41 avg, 1 TD
Javy Arenas 2009 kick returns:
19 attempt, 551 yards, 29.00 avg, 0 TD
Arenas stats in 2008 were similar to PP7s 2010 year. It's conjecture because PP7 only did it for a year.. but I think he's the better returner.

and doesn't fit in with the names of Javy or Brandon.. he was very good his one year, but he doesn't have a career to back him up. I could just as easily say he probably wouldn't come within single digits of setting the NCAA record book or tie the NCAA record book with returns for TD's.

Meh, he really beefed his stats up against UNC, Miss St, and WVU.

Patrick Peterson. Imagine his numbers with 3 years of returning like javi
If he's such a great return man, why wasn't he returning kicks his first two years?

We had the fastest player in college FB returning kick offs and Chad jones returning punts . If I had to guess I'd say it had something to do with cramps.......just think about that for a sec. For two years LSU had 3 excellent returners to choose from. How many get that luxury?

So for two years he was beat out by two guys who weren't even mentioned in the thread until now?

Holiday was mentioned, and the staff wanted to get Chad Jones more involved because he had big play ability, I'm not sure if the staff felt comfortable having Peterson returning kicks with only him and Burnt toast Hawkins at CB. Ron Brooks or Jsi would have been his replacement and then teams would have taken advantage of their lack of size and speed.

David Palmer >> Trindon Holiday

No flame intended, but PP7 still wouldn't touch Javy even if he had have returned kicks for 3 years.
I wouldn't be so sure.
Javy's best season was 2008. He had a 15.85 ypr average and 3 TDs.
This past season, Peterson had a HIGHER AVERAGE than Arenas (16.00 ypr), had 3/4 of Arena's yards on a little more than half the attempts, and had 1 TD less than Arenas (2).
Those are pretty comparable numbers if you ask me. And again...that was Areana's BEST season, BY FAR.
PP7 was a one year wonder as a punt returner. So it is hard to say he is the best the league has seen. That is why I said that Arenas is the best the league has seen, being as though he was a serious threat for 4 years.

Didnt we make him our bitch in 93?

I mean, I believe he could have been. Empirically, it is difficult to make that claim because it just didn't happen.
If we're talking about the most talented guy to touch the ball I'm going with Peterson. If we're talking best SEC returner of the decade I'm going with Arenas. Just how it is.

To all the LSU'ers. Here is your sign that you are lookin through tinted glasses.
Look at the responses from NON Alabama/LSU posters.
Arenas wins that vote and it isnt close. Hell even the Auburn posters that hate all things Alabama are saying Javy was better.
As to the "if he had returned during 08/09/whatever", if ifs and buts were candy and nuts, not a damn one of us would have a tooth in our heads.
