But Buck was barely functional as a QB.

Buck was better than barely functional. He was pretty well thought of coming out of Valdosta, though he was probably a better baseball prospect than football. He played pretty well in spot duty in '78 as a freshman (including the ridiculous game v. Tech) and during '79.

He did have one of the worst performances in Sugar Bowl history in 1981 though.

And he's definitely no Stafford or Zeier.

I'd still probably take the three of them over any other trio in UGA history though.

ETA: LSU fans ought to know Lindsay Scott's name pretty well too since he had one of the longest kickoff returns in Tiger Stadium history in 1978.

Joe Hamilton - Joe Burns - Dez White

Josh Nesbitt - Jonathan Dwyer - Demaryius Thomas

Also, the best ones are probably...

2000-02 Miami: Ken Dorsey - Portis/McGahee/Gore - A Johnson/Wayne/Moss/Shockey

2003-05 USC: Leinart - Bush/L White - M Williams/Jarrett/S Smith

1998-99 FSU: Weinke - Minor - Warrick

1994 Penn St: Collins - K Carter - Engram (possibly the only one where all three were All-Americans)

1994 Colorado: Stewart - Salaam - Westbrook

Here's the forgotten one for Auburn:

Ben Leard - Rudi Johnson - Ronney Daniels

All three were All-SEC in 2000.

Could easily make a case for 2nd best team of all time. I probably wouldn't argue.

Zeier/Hearst/Hastings was pretty sweet. I lived in Augusta during that span and in-laws were from Lincolnton so they worshipped Hearst.

For Arkansas:
Joe Ferguson/Dicky Morton/Mike Reppond
Ron Calcagni/Ben Cowins/Robert Farrell
Quinn Grovey/Barry Foster/Derek Russell
Stoerner/Cedric Cobbs/Anthony Lucas
Casey Dick/DMAC/Monk
Mallett/Knile/Childs
