Surprisingly Nashville isn't that great of a restaurant city, nothing really unique.

Says the guy who recommended Maggiano's...

IMHO, best place in town is City House, though it is dinner only.

For Vandy area game-day eats I like Rotier's, Brown's Diner, Pancake Pantry, Savarino's, Sportsman's Grill, Pizza Perfect, McDougal's, Hog Heaven and Bosco's, depending on what you're in the mood for and time of day.

For higher-end dining in the Vandy area, I'm partial to PM, tayst, Tin Angel & the Acorn.

Not really sure how easy some of these places are to get into on a gameday per se, but still good eats in SEC towns:

Auburn - Cheeburger Cheeburger (although I liked it better when the polaroids of the folks who ate the pounder were everywhere and not just on the pegboards); Momma G's; Byron's Smokehouse; and of course a lemonade from Toomer's.

Athens - The Varsity s good, but for the true experience you have to come to the one in Atl by the Tech campus

Knoxville - Calhoun's (great bbq and the one at Turkey Creek has a microbrew attached to it); Ye Old Steak House (gf took me there for my birthday this year, absolutely amazing steaks); Litton's has great burgers. Reminds me a lot of the Dew Drop Inn in Mobile.

I've only been to Nashville a couple of times, so I haven't had the chance to search out really good eating places there. I do know everyone raves about breakfast at The Pancake Pantry, but I have yet to try it.

If you do go:

1) Get there early, before the line gets long. Opens at 6AM every day.
2) Get a side order of hash browns. Best I've ever had...
3) The sweet potato pancakes rock!

the pancake pantry is one of the few restaurants with hype that actually lives up to it... And whoever recommended sportmans and rotiers -

Dore,

Totally agree on Pancake Pantry. Best breakfast you're ever going to get.

Also love Rotier's. Great food, and even better shakes.

If you're in Nashville and want a great beer, I'm all about the Flying Saucer, although that's not all that close to Vandy.

Oh hell yes. It's worth the 15 minute drive to Manchac and I highly recommend the soft shell crab when in season.

The Dew Drop is the shite

My great-uncle opened the Dew Drop, and my grandfather worked there and helped create the chilli recipe.

My great-uncle was a stone-cold racist (I think he was in the Klan), and he sold the business rather than being forced to serve blacks.

He pissed away a ton of money because of his bigotry.

Fayetteville's decent. Catfish Hole wasn't as good as everyone made it out to be. There's a Thai place on Dickson which is good but can't remember the name of it, think it maybe just called Bangkok or something like that. Doe's is well known but is kind of average. Emilia's is crap. Whole Hog Cafe was pretty good.

You did not name one single place that is even close to the Top Ten in Fayetteville. Gotta try Herman's Ribhouse. Looks like a dump but the ribs and steaks are the best. Also need to hit Cafe Rue Orleans for, believe it or not, some of the best authentic New Orleans cuisine anywhere. The chef comes from a New Orleans restaurant family and knows her stuff. I highly recommend the Eggplant Napoleon or the Catfish Tchopatoulas. Third would be Hugo's off the square. Get the Derek's Special and split a basket of fries. The bartender pulls the best Black & Tan around, and finish it off with grasshopper crepes.

Fayetteville

Healthy, organic - Greenhouse Grille. Favorite is the Bison KC Strip.

Steaks - Herman's or Doe's.

BBQ - Whole Hog Cafe.

Bangkok Thai is good, but there's 3 other Thai places in town, and my favorite is Taste of Thai on Center Street (off square).

Wasabi on Dickson is good sushi. But there are 2 others on Dickson area, too.

If money and a wait was no big deal, odds are I'd head to Doe's or Theo's.

It is good, but I'm very surprised he thinks its that good. It is a favorite of a lot of players from other schools.

Middendorfs

Pretty good but don't get what all the fuss is about. Some people seem to think it's a sin to drive past it without stopping.

Mugshots

I was surprised to see Mugshots on there since there's one in four different towns. But the Mcdonald there is probably the best burger I've had.

Too many to choose one in Nashville.

If Microbrews are your choice, Hog Haus on Dickson has some great beers, brewed on site. West Mountain Brewing Company on the Square has a few, too.

Hog Haus has a good menu, too. West Mountain is adjacent to Tim's Pizza, and you can eat Tim's while you drink.

In T-Town, Moe's has reopened the BBQ in down town. It's some good eating. there's now like 11 moes from the gulf coast up to Aspen Co

Check it out next time any of you are in Title Town.
