If you were in the house the past few nights for Bayou Cou try Superfest and heard how much the crowd noise was trapped in, the answer is Tiger Stadium and it's not even close. Size, appearance and QUALITY of premium seats is unmatched. And I've been to em all except mizzou but they aren't even in this discussion.

Nobody is disputing the gameday experience at Tiger Stadium. This thread is about the best stadium though, and that isn't simply about atmosphere.

The best atmosphere in the NFL is either Seattle or Kansas City, but nobody argues either of those stadiums are the best in the NFL.

I know what the subject of this thread is on - thanks. We're on the 8th page & I was responding to your aggie brethren regarding atmosphere between the two stadiums

Was fricking awesome.

I still can't get used to seeing the new upper deck after 3 days of looking at it. And being in TS tonight until almost 1am was pretty damn cool.

Right now, Tiger Stadium is one of, if not the best of the SEC stadiums. It's the fourth-largest of the four 100,000+ seat stadiums in the league, and it has the second most suites and the second most premium seating in the SEC overall.

Simply put, Tiger Stadium has the best combination of seats, suites, premium seating overall, and the highest amount of chair back seating overall among all the stadiums in the conference.

With 136 suites, it's second only to BDS' 157...but since TS's suites are generally larger, TS actually has the highest suite capacity in the SEC. UT's Neyland Stadium has 120 suites, and Kyle Field will get up to 114 suites in 2015.

And TS has 6,200 club seats, far more than Kyle Field (will have around 5,000), BDS (around 4,000), or Neyland Stadium (around 3,000). Only Arkansas' RRS has more club seats (around 8,000).

And out of all the SEC stadiums, it has by far the most chair back seating, as I proved in another thread.

10, 20, 30, More...What percent of your football stadium's seats are chairbacks?

So to compare the four largest stadiums...

1) Tiger Stadium - Fourth-largest, second-most suites (highest total suite capacity, all have a capacity of 23), second-most premium seating in SEC. Also has most chair back seats in SEC stadiums.

2) Bryant-Denny Stadium - Third-largest, most suites (most are fairly small at 16 capacity, with a few at 23), fourth-most premium seating in SEC.

3) Kyle Field - Largest, fifth-most suites (Founder's Suites will be largest suites in SEC), third-most premium seating in SEC.

4) Neyland Stadium - Second-largest, fourth-most suites, fifth-most premium seating in SEC.

Of all the stadiums in the SEC, Tiger Stadium has the most upside. There is still an end zone left to expand to, and there's a ton of room for gameday condos to be built into the stadium.

The near future will bring light rail onto the LSU campus, with a rail link to NOLA. There will be restaurants, shops, hotels, and bars built right across the street from the stadium.

I'll say it again...there will be nothing remotely like it in the SEC. Restaurants, shops, hotels, and bars right across from the stadium. Which is a good thing, as it allows fans to have a good time while the traffic dies down after games.

Add in the gameday experience, the unmatched tailgating and the unmatched food, and it's a slam-dunk win for Tiger Stadium.

I haven't been to the them all but I think its a pretty safe bet that War Memorial in Little Rock wins the shite hole award. Never in my 45 years have I been inside a stadium that had port a cans set up inside. This wasn't even as a result of construction I could understand if that were the case. Went there in 2004 and 2006 and it was the case both times. Vaught Hemmingway was a dump but not to the level of War Memorial. People can bash State but their stadium was clean and well maintained that's all you really want anyway. All the rest I been to were good.

Very interesting post, thanks for the info. TS is a badass place, I just have one question. Why are we all excited about suits? I know a few people that have them. I have been to 2 games in them....

But I'm not ever going to get one. Even if I did have the money, I wouldn't spend it on that. Takes a lot of the atmosphere out of the game for me. So with that info in mind, I don't see why it's such a propped up statistic in your novel of information. They pay the bills, but aren't worth a damn outside of that to the common Gameday attendee.

Just my observation.

I think you mean suites, and that's where the smart money is these days...premium seating of all types.

Stadiums have to go the extra mile to entice fans to leave the comfort of their living room and HD TV's.

So offering comfortable seating, with access to food and drink, and the opportunity to socialize with other fans is the way to go.

LSU AD Joe Alleva recently said he plans to offer even more chair back seating in Tiger Stadium, in order to offer fans the best possible gameday experience.

Agree, hard not to be biased though. Been to Neyland...VERY nice but the gameday experience wasn't all that. Kinda disappointing really. Goint to Aggie land this year to watch the REAL tigers beat em again. Would love to go to JH. I hear it's loud and the fans get loud. Plus, I think Auburn is my least favorite SEC team. Would love to see the REAL tigers beat sissy little Aubbie in their own crib.

Enough said. Plus, have you seen where Tiger Stadium was in the top 10 Best sporting events on the planet? No other college teams were even close. I think LSU was 8th??? European soccer beat us and maybe NASCAR...not quite sure.

Sorry, I disagree. Bryant-Denny is a better pure football stadium. It is a masterpiece.

Good, hurry up and implement that stuff so UGA and Athens will stop dragging their feet on similar proposals for light rail and beautification. I swear this state can't get it together sometimes.

Well, if you don't let the facts get in the way of making your decision, then yes.

As far as looks go, I'd rank the stadiums Kyle Field (after 2015), BDS, Tiger Stadium...but LSU isn't done improving Tiger Stadium. The future is bright here.

In terms of architecture, yes its interior design is the nicest in the SEC IMO, but the stadium looks like shite from the outside.

I hear ya. The Nicholson Drive project was unanimously approved by the LSU Board of Supervisors, and will be part of the larger FutureBR master land-use plan.

quote:

All of the development projects going on between downtown Baton Rouge and LSU has led to plans to develop a $100 million streetcar line along the Nicholson Drive corridor.

“It’s astonishing how much is going on,” said John Fregonese, the planner who is helping to implement the FutureBR master land-use plan.

Fregonese cited developments such as IBM’s service center, the residential tower going up next to it, The Water Campus coastal research center and the mixed-use River District development.

More than 3,700 housing units, from condominiums in the River District to new residential units at LSU, are either under construction on the drawing board.

More than 2 million square feet of commercial and office space also is in the works.

Fregonese showed plans for a 7.38-mile streetcar route at the FutureBR Implementation Team meeting Thursday. The route would stretch from the State Capitol to Tiger Stadium.
